The other day I went to my local auto parts store to check out the new tools and what-nots, so they had a sale on multi-testers I grabbed one without really knowing how to use one. I've looked over tutorials and video's on how to use them but not really understanding. Last week I got a new ignition switch that I thought at the time was for my scoot but it wasn't and when I plugged it in it fried and if I had a tester would have saved a switch, anyways since I do have one now can someone give me some simple but useful settings: like checking to see how the battery is charging to figuring out which line is a ground or hot or which wire come's on when the switch is turned. I know that there is a lot of other uses but I just want a starting place and then go from there. Here is what I bought via this link: actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16157I hope that it will prevent wires or switches from frying and causing a big mess

In a climate that is an ever changing climate one day you can be sunny and 70 and then turn around and the temp drops to 1 above zero. What can I do since I will be riding in winter the trip is only about 5 miles to dialysis. Or what can I do to help prevent a breakdown?

Well to tell you the truth I fried the new switch not thinking of a difference in models, but you learn and you have it right as far as the wiring down to exactly what I have. Is it though possible to get a new switch with the same wiring and move the wire's around so they are correct?? But I will say I put the old one back in and it works I'll deal with that until it breaks and can't be fixed after all its the housing that is broke not the wiring.

Thanks for the diagram Bashan I, I called the co that I bought the scoot from and told them what happened and believe it or not there is about 4 different switches for 4 different names and all wired different. but I hope the new one that is sent to me now will work. Thank goodness I bought a meter.

After some trial and error I figured out that it is the wrong switch and I'm going to call and get another because some reason the wiring is not right and it melted it trying to hook a meter up to it so its junk. I would however like to know were I can find a wiring diagram for my poor little scooter. it takes a lickin and keeps on tickin

I have a new scooter: LINKI had to replace the ignition switch because it was broken. When I unhooked the old switch and went to plug in the new one it blew the fuse. So I tried to replace the fuse not disconnecting the battery it blew again. So to further more matters I disconnected the battery opened the fuse block and did the ole' foil around the fuse trick. Well that didn't work either. So I had to unhook the battery and brought it in to see if it would charge(the whole time I think I drained the battery) and I don't know if that will help any either. But why would it blow a fuse it was working just a few mins before, and is it possible that the ignition switch has to be bolted on and acts like a ground to the system?

I appreciate all the reply's that you have posted in here. I did goto a dealer the other day and tried out various manufactured helmets and all of them fit differently and the thing is with the one I have the tightness has been a little getting used to and the only true place that hurts a little it the top of my ear(the ridge that rounds the top of the ear and comes around to the front middle.) Sorry if I can't explain it well. I will be going to more dealers that sell helmets and try them and maybe I'll find one that fits just right. We will see but thanks again.Oh before I forget would it hamper the safety if I cut a little section of the padding to help the point were my ear hurts the section would only be cut about an 3/4" ??

If you were trying on a new full face helmet and when you went to put it on your cheeks were pushed in would that be something that would loosen up in time or should I go with the next size up? ??

I wouldn't say to buy one or not because if the most your going to use it for is lets say a one job like putting on a wheel for the first time I would rent one most place's rent them for $10 then if you know your going to use it a lot then purchase. I want to cation on using it on the wheel nut I have always used a lug wrench because if you over tighten the nut that can cause damage to the nut and threads. I've gotten by without one in the past but when I new I needed to work on a motor I'd ask around to borrow or rent. If you are going to get tools do your best to purchase them with a life-time warranted.

I posted this in the Scootdawg forum but I wanted to place it here as well.
I wanted to start my experience with GS Motor Works. I purchased this scooter on Tuesday a 50cc Tank Replica yellow/white color for $629.00 w/free shipping along with a helmet for $50(I plan to purchase another helmet if this one doesn't suit me or to have for a second rider). First thing I did was watching my bank account to get the date that the order went threw my account which happened Friday night. I called them today(Saturday) they answered the phone and said it should be delivered to my home no later than next Friday. So with that said if nothing happens between now and Friday the next post will be when it arrives. So far GS Motor Works have been very nice people and prompt service. Until next Time Happy Scooting!

I would like as many people to look at the possible purchase www.gsmotorworks.com/detail.cfm?id=838It is a 50cc scooter and all the details are on the site. My biggest thing is am I getting a good price for a scooter or is there something better. My price range is very limited meaning this scooter is about the only thing I can afford. The other thing is that is it a 2 seat or just for a single person. In the picture it appears that it has foot pegs for a second person to ride, but more importantly is it all that hard to install foot pegs on a scooter at all? I would much rather have them already installed but I'm sure I could save a little and install them myself. To tell everyone the truth my mind is hurting because of all those different choices and much rather have it narrowed down to maybe 2 possibles. I do however like to purchase one from them because everyone else charges any were from 199-239 in shipping and that is a bit much for me to afford and one thing is clear I can only ride legally 50cc scoot and I know if I took a 150 and removed the one a cop will know and I would get in trouble either way even if I masked it as a 50cc in actually it is a 150. Sorry for writing so much but I think that you all would understand my predicament. Also understand this though I want to place the order either Tuesday night or more likely Wed morning including 2 helmets because some f@#$N punk stole my scoot and helmet that went with it. I'll never see it again but this time it is going to be harder to do it(alarm system gps locator and chains even your mother wouldn't try to break) and that not a threat its a promise.
