kz1000st, DrRocco, cyborg, drahken, rks, steelblade, Bashan, richardv, cookees I'm kind of new to the scooter scene but not the motorcycle scene. I now have over 5000 mile on my 2008 chinese scooter which I bought used for 500.00 bucks. other than a few electrical problem it's been a great ride for the money. I don't think you can beat them.I've looked at the big 4 scooters and personally I think there butt ugly, they may be higher quality but at over 3 times the cost they should be .if I was going to spend that kind of money, I'd just buy a motorcycle and be done with it .true the chinese scooters have some problems, but if you have any mechanical ability and can turn a wrench scooters are pretty simple to work on,and if you don't have these abilities maybe you should just go back to driving a car .I've been riding two wheeled vehicles for many years and I've yet to see a scooter or for that matter a motorcycle that didn't break down at one time or other. and when your out in the middle of no where and you break down those mechanical abilities come in pretty handy.so instad of blaming the scooter maybe you should first ask yourself is it the chinese at fallit or mine.later

@borninabarn, Bashan, adamhoyer, scoot, cyborg, jct842 just a p.s. to my last tread I'm also a old harley davidson rider/ owner and I'm happy to say I love my scooter it's been fun to work on and ride, I've always been a customizer, and can't seem to leave the scooter alone one up grade seems to lead to either, but i'm surprised that more riders don't want to customize their scooters and make it there own, maybe it's because most riders buy a scooter for cheap transportation and don't care what it looks like(.to each his own).myself I love to see what is possible custom paint, chrome, more horse power, ect.I guess it's just the old harley rider in me. I'm old and couldn't pick up a harley if it fell over so my scooter is the next best thing, and I'm enjoying it very much, I hope you are too.as one harley rider to another remember always. ride shiney side up rubber side down.later

@borninabarn, Bashan Bashan is right you need a impact driver, but I know some of you don"t have a air compressor to run one and if you do have a compressor it may be too small ,here's a tip buy a electric impact driver, harbor freight has them for around 40.00 bucks, well worth the cost.and you may need it if you ever what to remove the clutch bell nut. I ran into this same problem and had to grind the nut off,but I wouldn't suggest you do that I'm a retired mechanic so I have experience with problems like this .I made my own locking tool out of a pieces of steel strap and some bolts and nuts ,if your stock fan is like mine it has two 10mm holes in it. just take a piece of strap drill two hole in it the same distance apart as the holes in your fan and thread a bolt thru the holes with a nut on each side of the strap to whole the bolts in place .now place the strap with the bolts into the holes in your fan if you make your strap long enough to hit the ground when the scooter is on it's center stand you won't even have to hold it when you loosen the nut.hope this helps I don't know if I explained it very well ,maybe I need pictures but it's pretty sample. and it works very well .when I reinstall my variator I don't use a impact gun .I use a torque wrench my scoot calls for 35 foot pounds yours maybe different.I do this so I don't have to use a impact to remove the nut the next time, I want to work on the variator. I can remove the nut with just a breaker bar. again I hope this helps.
