Today my Fiancee and I took a 360 mile round trip. It was an impromptu journey and, even though I posted an invitation for anyone who wanted to join us to go along, we went by ourselves. We rode from Randolph, MO up scenic 210 highway out to Richmond, MO and caught highway 10 where 210 ends. We followed 10 to where it ends at 24 highway. We followed 24 out to Moberly, MO where we had lunch at Pizza Works. They had pretty good pizza. We continued on 24 out to Missouri "C" highway south to the bridge site. The bridge is right at the end of a paved road and there is very easy access to it. This bridge was not as well preserved as the Locust Creek covered bridge, but is very interesting none the less. According to the signage, there was a flash flood in 2008 and they took some of the siding off of the bridge in order to prevent the water from washing it away and it has remained in that state ever since. There have been a lot of people who came along with spray paint and wrote their names in the bridge which is very unfortunate. Parking is gravel and there are no restrooms nearby. Since we were alone, we decided that being as Boone's Lick state park was somewhat on our way back we'd stop by there as well. We followed 24 highway back up to Missouri 3 south and took that down to highway 240 and took that over to 87. 87 is a really nice road to ride a 2 wheeler on! 187 turns off of 87 and takes you to the park. Boone's Lick is a saltwater well that was purportedly discovered by Daniel Boone, but there is evidence refuting that tale. It was a 3/8 mile hike down to the well site and a pictorial tour of the saline brine works that used to occupy the grounds. We backtracked up 87 to 240 and followed it west to 65north and then back to 24 and on into Independence. We took 291 to Liberty and had Chick-Fil-A for dinner and completed our day's trip. Both of us had a slight case of Numb Butt Syndrome (NBS) but we had a great time. We also found a few other sites we'd like to go back and see for another day's trip! More information can be found about the bridge here. All of my pictures of today can be found HERE. A map of today's route can be found HERE.

No, My kids live in Arkansas. I was just thinking if they moved near you then I would have an excuse to get my tires changed there for $7.

I figured the crab paste was to make sure that the crab was stuck on the bike well. LOL
$7 is a good price! Cheapest place I found to do it was a 400 mile drive for me (that I make frequently anyhow) at $15 each. Maybe I should get my ex wife to move to Yuma so I can visit my kids there and get tires changed.

I really like the new tires being delivered to you on the semi truck.
One question though.... do you use the whole okra inside the tire like dynabeads to balance the tires, or do you use the shrimp for that?
Ok, second question: Is the crab paste to make sure you don't fall off?
LOL Looks like you had fun. I've never seen Bridgestone tires on a scoot before. Where'd you get em? Did you install them yourself, or did you take them to a tire shop? Pic 16 is the only one that shows that portion of the install and it looks like a tire place.

I have been to Subiaco. Past the church/school/monistary. There is actually a town there. LOL
I know of another Monistary that is secluded about 4-5 miles down a gravel road north of Eureka springs. Jen and I have been looking at purchasing some land up there and were driving around and found this place purely by accident. I think they were going for pure seclusion!
Conception Abby is just a gorgeous place. I've never been to a place quite like it. It inspires you to be reverent and quiet. Was a great ride too!

Today I made a ride with a new bunch of friends. One of my regular group rode with us as we rode up to St Joseph, MO and toured the State Lunatic Asylum #2, now the Glore psychiatric museum. The ride up was nice and our first stop was at Plattsburg, MO where we stopped for ice cream. The first few pics were taken there and we discovered this cool garage behind the gas station where the guy collected neon signs! He had quite the collection. On to St Joe we went. Made it to the museum and saw a lot of interesting "therapy" devices. You'll just have to look through the pics. The museum also had some information about the pony express and a section about local American Indian tribes. There were even a couple of cars in the basement. Ron suggested an alternate route to our lunch destination and we toured the St Joe Parkway which was an absolutely beautiful ride. When we got to 45 highway and turned south, I looked north and could just barely see another group of motorcycles coming our way. Within a mile, 3 "Crotch Rocket's" passed us like we were standing still..... all doing wheelies at 90MPH we estimate. Ahhh to be young and indestructible again. We made it down the road to the Lunch place, Pat's Steak house. One of our group ordered coffee and when she brought it to him she tottered and dropped the coffee in his lap.... he thought. It was a prop and apparently did this trick to many patrons who ordered coffee. We all got a good laugh out of it. We made our way back down some back roads to KC that I had never been on before and a couple that I had been. All in all it was nice to meet some new friends and have an interesting ride to an interesting destination. Today my fianceé and I rode up to Conception Abby which is in North West Missouri. She has a relative that was an abbot there in the 60's and 70's and who is buried there at the cemetery. We drove past a huge wind farm and we stopped and ate lunch at King city, MO at Friend's Restaurant. They served us a HUGE pork tenderloin sandwich. I couldn't eat the entire thing! Really good food. Now I'm not Catholic, but let me tell you Conception Abby is worth the visit. It's unbelievably gorgeous. The cathedral is really something to see. The pictures I have of it do not do it justice. It is something you must see with your own 2 eyes to really understand. Put 215 miles on the scooter and it was a wonderful fall day to ride. All of the pictures I took can be found here: www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=235611&id=568009226&l=3c9934022cA map of our ride can be found here: maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=109748207347256256451.00049222a1b0befff4d91&ll=39.73465,-94.707642&spn=1.005383,1.766052&z=9&mid=1286579110

All of these pics were taken with my cell phone camera. My old digital camera gave up the ghost when I left it sitting on my scooter overnight at the STO the night it poured rain. C'est la vie.

Kiwiscoot: That tool works ok. I made one myself. My biggest problem with it was that I kept breaking the fins or the holes designed for it to fit into. The strap wrench worked better for me.

JR: When you get the chance, go up hwy 7 north of Russellville and catch hwy 123. OMG That's some beautiful country. AND there are a LOT of 10MPH curves. Lovely place to ride. FYI = JR snuck some Westsylvania pix in with his! I've been through all the roads JR had pics of.... they're in Arkansas, trust me.
