Ok, so i've made some progress, i hope. I readjusted the valves to .005 and it will now start without me putting my hand over the intake. It will almost immediately die after it starts. What would you suggest next, alley? Should i readjust one of the valves to compensate this? maybe lower one or raise one? Sorry if that's a silly question.

If you read the section on kickstarters they tell you great things : "Kick start your scooter is really simple with the easy to use kick starter specifically designed for front and rear tires. This will provide an aggressive trend pattern for superb traction."

i put some duck tape over the hole in the airbox and it did help it stay running a little better. I'll adjust the A/F screw tomorrow with the tape on and see what I can do.

i'm thinking it will be easier just to order the thing. I really hope it solves the problem! But heck, I'm having fun even if it doesn't! and here's a little more on what it does, maybe help narrow it to the air box a little more. Sometimes it revs higher rpms at lower points in the throttle. Like i can let off just a little and it will rev up a bit then slow back down. Hope that makes sense.

Maybe this sounds a bit silly but could i do the same thing to the intake down at the airbox? just put a strip or two of tape over it to restrict the airflow until i get the cover? haha

There it is. Ok, i'll cut out some thick cardboard to the shape and fix it to it temporarily. Think that will do the job? Attachments:

It has an airbox, the cover is just missing. It has the tube and the foam and all that. It literally just doesn't have the cover to it. I'll take a picture for you, just to make sure we're thinking the same things. haha

sounds good to me! I've got an extra carb ordered just incase this one is beyond salvage or i mess something up. I'll get to work on this thing tonight and let you know how it goes! But you don't think the missing air box cover will affect it? I really appreciate your help!

just saw your other message. I noticed that the intake is not snug on the carb. I pushed it all the way back up on there but didn't help. The airbox cover is missing, wasn't there when i got it. The foam is still on it however. Would this cause it to be getting to much air?

it starts off at a decent idle and then slows down. I can give it throttle and keep it going for a moment and then that will bog out and it will die.
