I went out today and picked up a new battery. It was only $25 so I was impressed as hell at the price. I put in the acid and charged it at 2 amps for an hour like instructed. Put the battery in and now the starter spins but does not turn the motor. It spins but no cranky the motor. I looked inside the starter hole before putting in the starter and the inside gear looked good with no teeth missing. So the question is what is going on and how do I fix? I assume I have to take the cover off and check the other gears and how big of a pain is that?

Well first of all, I paid $375 for the scoot knowing full well it did not run and I would have to do some work on it. I truly believe to PO who was dumb as nails, spun it over and over until it cooked the starter. The bike is an 08 and only has 2641 miles so the starter should not be worn like that with normal use. The brushes were nubs and that reduces the comm pressure and loses torque. I thought about getting a brush kit for it, if they even sell them but the comm looked bad too from spinning so much which means I would have to get it turned also. I think it is just easier and better to get a new one. With a new battery, starter and solenoid, I should be able to eliminate most electrical issues. I can't troubleshoot the starting issue if I can't get it turning over so that is my first goal.

Looking forward to riding a 250 as I have only ridden a 150. It will be a nice bike hen I am done with it, unfortunately, it is 16 degrees today so I am only tinkering in the garage for now until it warms up a bit. I am trying to put myself in a better position for spring to be closer to having it run so I can tweak it up.

I have to research and find a good price on the parts and with not NEEDING them now, I have that luxury. I would also like to pull off the case and see what is going on there even though it is a real bugger to access the motor.

Looks like you already may be back down to 2 cases!

Well the buyer picked up the Roketa today. Went to Notary and got transfer done, then she followed me to my house to pick up scoot. then I had to follow her home. Bless her heart, she drove it in 19 degree weather. She went slow and took her time and only went about 20mph for the three mile drive or so to her house. Got to admit, the ole Aruba looked pretty good cruzin up the road. She killed it once by hitting the kill switch instead of the turn signal. All in all it went smooth and now I put the Duke in the garage so I can start working on it. I have to pull some plastics to get at the starter. I will keep you all posted.
