Question (What a surprise?) LOL
When adjusting my valves, I know to do the intake valve when the engine is at TDC. That means there is no tension (or compression is the right word?) on the top spring/valve. When it's at TDC you set your intake to .004". Okay, that's not a problem at all. A little point of confusion I'm having is adjusting the bottom valve. Do I adjust this one when the engine is at TDC, when the bottom valve/spring is fully compressed? When reading the tutorial it doesn't make this totally clear. I would imagine setting the exhaust valve when fully compressed would actually be impossible. As you adjust the adjuster, the arm would just move along with it. Are you supposed to rotate your engine to where the exhaust valve is fully UNcompressed and the top is fully compressed? In other words, BDC (Bottom Dead Center). Yes, I am making up terms ;D But just a thought. I (idiotically) adjusted my top valve perfect each time, but always tried to adjust my bottom valve while it was still compressed. I would start the scooter and have a loud CLATTER CLATTER CLATTER CLATTER sound and just believed it to be the intake valve. Could that have been the exhaust vavle clattering from me tinkering with it when it was fully compressed?! I just got to thinking about this! Am I right or am I just blabbing on? LOL Thanks guys!

Alleyoop, Hmm, looks similar to that, but my choke doesn't sit like that. Mine actually looks bigger? I assumed it was the one on the bottom. That's where the mechanic who did my first tune up said it was. I was just making sure. It's in a very awkward position. Have to use a L shaped driver to turn it with out burning myself on the muffler. Luckily I bought a 24 piece set that has that ;D On the road to victory! Just checked online about my order for the valve screw and it's for sure going to be here, unless any unforeseen incidents happen! HAHA. Keeping the chin up and am excited to get my scoot right

Hey guys, where is the air/fuel mixture screw on this carb? I know where the idle screw is. Is it the flat head screw on the bottom of the carb? My valve screw will be here tomorrow, so just doing my research now so I can get my scoot right

Got the screw out with my hand. It was pretty easy to get out. Just twisted it out. Now just have to wait for pay day to get that adjustable screw. Yes, I am that broke right now. LOL Checked with every auto store and they didn't have a bolt or anything that had fine enough thread for it. They all referenced me to a local hardware store who had a wall of bolts, nuts, screws, etc. They didn't have a thread fine enough!!!! So I am forced to order it online. Shipping is $6.50 while the part is $0.75. That sucks! Thanks for all the help guys!

Alleyoop, Thanks. Well the the tip of the adjuster came off as well as the locknut. So I'm guessing to not run it until I get a new one installed??

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.. Bad news... nothing new. LOL So, the first time I adjusted them, I had a clatter noise. Went and readjusted. Still had the same. Went back the third time! Adjusted them right, buttttttttt I was using needle nose pliers this time to hold the adjuster and an adjustable wrench to tighten the locknut, to make sure I don't over tight it. Well when I was tightening my locknut (just started to) the tip of the adjuster and the lcoknut snapped off!!!! I wasn't even trying to apply pressure! So I kept my cool and saw the vavle was still screwed on and took my feeler gauge out, and it was in tehre perfectly. Not too loose, not too tight. Was happy for that. So I was putting the cover for the top vavlce back on and then when just starting to tighten (again) the bolt, it snapped!!!!! How crappy of bolts do these chinese scooters have??? Well started the scooter up, came on the first try of course, buttttt still have a clattering noise!!!!! Now I can't get to my valve, nor adjust it!! Guys, whatever you do, don't come around me. The second you do my bad luck will smother you and your tires will explode and then your engine will start backfiring!!! I seem to be in a spell of bad luck. Thanks for all of the help guys! Seeing how I can't ride my scoot anymore, I'm throwing in the towel on this one. Riding it the way it is right now will most likely lead to worse problems in the future. Correct?

Hey guys, thanks for all the replys. Well went to advance auto and bought some tools and took the CVT cover and saw the big nut. Used my 19mm socket to turn it and it was quite easy to turn. So I adjusted my vavles, kind of tricky. But after doing it, my scoot starts on the first crank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And stays on. Only thing is is that I hear a clicking sound. So I'm going to go back and re adjust. Tricky part is holding the adjuster while tightening the lock nut. Letting it warm down now so I can go re adjust. My scooter has 22xx miles on it now. Yes, refilled the coolant. My scoot looks just look the guide for the 257cc linhai valve adjustment posted my JR in the 250-300cc section. EXACTLY the same, same color as well LOL. But I am getting there, slowly but surely. It was pretty cool to see my scoot crank on the first try, and stay on nice and strong, and not die down or idle crazy low. It idles at about 2500 So I believe it could be the faulty choke I have, or maybe my idle screw. NOT SURE. Haven't gotten to adjusting that. Just here posting my progress while letting my engine cool down. Thanks for all the help guys ;D

Geesh man! This is taking too much time. I spend more time fixing than riding I need this scoot for school and I'm finding myself missing more and more because of this darn thing. About taking the cvt cover off. Can't. Don't have a screw driver big enough. Have a nubby and many other average sized philips but no big sized ones. That's why I was going to tic the starter like the other fellow suggested. Would I need to adjust my gas to air mixture on my carb?
