Alleyoop, Thanks for the suggestion. Already did that. Only problem is that I believe that my enricher is messed up. No matter what I set my idle at it will always idle at about 2000 and spin my tire like crazy. So I'm going to order a new one tonight. Every since I've cleaned my carb and took the cap off of the valves, and finally getting it to start, my scoot has been running like UTTER CRAP. Constantly bogging down. When it turns on (after about 7 cranks) it will idle super high, then go down and shut off. I must give it gas to try to keep it up. Sometimes it will just drop too fast and no matter how much gas I give it, it will shut off. When it's actually on and warm, driving it is just awful. It will not stop bogging down. It will do 50 but still be bogging instead of going smoothly. Could have taking the cap off of the valves caused it to run worse without adjusting them? I do have the caps back on. Didn't adjust them because I couldn't take the timing belt. But one user suggested that I do it by feel and tik the starter while leaving my fingers on the swing arm. Seems like the only way I can even get close to doing my valves. Oh, and I discovered what ticing the starter means: to tap the ignition button super fast to make the starter tic. LOL. Going to do my valves tomorrow and hopefully that kills a lot of the bogging and idling problems! Can't wait to actually get my new enricher as well. Getting close. Wish me luck guys and thanks for all the help. PS: If you have any suggestions please feel free to offer them!

I would like to adjust my valves that way. I don't know what you mean by tic the starter and the swingarm... I'm awfully new to this and trying to save money. I'm learning A LOT this way!! Here's an UPDATE: Good newsssssss!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D I've got my scoot to start Turnssss out the dumby (me) who took the carb apart and put it together didn't put it together properly first. Didn't put the enricher on right nor the throttle cable. So when trying to start my scooter I was getting no gas at all and thus drained my battery. Left my battery while I went to work. Tried it again and had the same drained battery. My charger never worked. So got out a different charger that did and let it charge over night. Came back to it today and tried it, and it was doing the same thing. I adjusted my enricher in all the way and found how the throttle cable properly went on. Put it on, and my scoot would almost start. On the vurge but wouldn't completely come on. Turns out that my idle screw was set way to low. With the throttle cable in the wrong spot (the entire time before I messed with the carb) my screw never went all the way down and my throttle was always slightly engaged. So I had to adjust the idle screw so my scoot would actually start and stay on. So it took a few tries but I actually got my scoot to run and stay running again!! Only thing is that it's just like before so I must adjust my valves still but I at least have it up and running again. Now with new gear oil ;D Only problem though: When my fan clicks on, my rpm shoots down and will sometimes turn my engine completely off. This was happening before I took my carb apart as well. Except that the rpm would drop fast when the fan kicked on and idle at a mesly 1,000. So, now it will just shut off, but a quick boost of throttle rams the rpm back and it idles fine after that, until the fan kicks on again. Any idea what this could be guys? Maybe the valves? My idiocracy of engines is quite apparent. LOL

So. Changed my gear oil successfully. Piece of cake. Thanks for the help. Now. About the valve adjustment. I had the valves exposed and was going to take the cover off of the timing belt so I can get the engine in Top Head position (or what ever it's called, name isn't coming to me right now). Well, the one of the two screws for it came of easily. The other is the one giving me hell. It is an inch from the frame. I can't get my ratchet in there. A 8mm wrench fits fine. But keeps slipping !!!! I went to the auto place and got a "ratchet wrench". Pretty cool thing. Didn't work. Kept slipping. It appears that that screw was already stripped. I CAN NOT get it off. Also, I do not have a screw driver big enough to take the black CVT cover off. It's dreadfully tight and my nubby is not suitable for that. Soooo everything is going bad. So after getting frustrated with this dang scooter, I put the valve covers back on and everything how it was supposed to be. I had my battery charging while I was at work. Put it on, and tried to start. Very weak again. I believe it may be my spark plug. Hopefully not the starter. This scooter is getting to become a burden rather than enjoyment. 75% of the time I spend with it is just to get it up to par. The other 25% I'm on it wondering why it's running the way it is. Only thing stopping me from doing the valve adjustment is that one dang stripped and VERY tight and hard spot to get to bolt. Now I have to use Public Transportation :/ I'm trying to hang in there. It's I get one thing fixed and then it's suddenly another thing... So any suggestions on getting that bolt of of the timing chain will be greatly appreciated as always.

Thanks guys!! Going to head out there today and show this scoot who's boss!! lol Going to get my battery charging while I do my other things. Last question: After completely taking off a carburetor (and all the gas in it draining) how do I get gas in there again? Seems to me that it's getting no gas at all. When I take the gas hose off of it no gas spills out, rather than when I took off that hose firstly all the gas spilled out. As you can tell I'm still new to this guys Bare with me, I am willing to work these problems out!

Okay that cleared up some confusion. I was looking at the GY6 valve adjustments and was blown away when I tried to do mine. lol After cleaning a carb.. Do you have to manually put gas into it? I believe my carb is getting no gas at all and my scoot will not start at all I think trying and trying may have led me to have a weak battery now or even a going bad starter. Maybe a bad spark plug. By the way, where is the spark plug on this thing? I would like to examine it and potentially get a new one. I am willing to give this scoot another shot. Just might need some help. Trying to keep the good spirit going! ;D

Okay. I've officially given up on this piece of junk. Today I put my carb back together and put it on the scoot again. I tried to get to my valves, I got to where I thought the cover was. When I loosened the four bolt caps all of my water drained out: Not fast, but quickly dripping. So I just put the caps back on and assumed that it wasn't the cover. Now I have absolutely no idea where the heck it is. Next, I tried to change my gear oil. Have no idea what to loosen to get it to drain. So I would unscrew one bolt and see if it drained. EACH and every single one did nothing at all. Do I have to take that silver cover thing off? Next, more problems. I've been noticing over the last few days that my scoot would make a big popping nose. An example: One morning I let it warm up, went outside and hopped on it. Backed it out to go, and I hit the throttle. The moment I did that the big pop noise happened and I could smell gas. I gave it a minute, did it again and it made the same noise. Just about every night so far when my scoot tries to drop rpms really low when I hit the breaks, I hit the throttle and then that loud pop noise happens. Not sure what the heck it is, but I know for sure it can't be too good. Next, now my scooter is starting to squeak. Only when I hit the throttle and start going, it will be there momentarily. After it gets cruising it will go away. Or when I'm letting it idle or pull into a parking spot slow does this squeak appear. NEXT, after putting my carb back on today, I tried to crank it. No go. It would try to crank but the engine will not crank on!!!!!!! Now my starting noises sound very weak. Let me explain: Usually when I try to start the scoot, I hit the button and then it would sound like (vricky vricky vricky vricky) eventually until it turned on. Now it's like (vriiiiiickkkyyyyyyy, vriiiicckkkkkkky, vriiiiicckkkkkyyyyy). Sounds as though it's dying My dad said to check the spark plug. Only thing is is that I have NO IDEA where the heck the spark plug is. The list of problems keeps adding and it's stressing me out too much and taking up wayyyy too much of my time. List of problems as of 11/7/2010: 1. Won't start now, has that weak sounding start. 2. Need a new enricher. 3. Need to adjust valves (tried to today and have no idea where the heck anything is) 4. Need to check spark plug (absolutely no clue to the where abouts of this) 5. Need to fix my squeaking problem. 6. Need a new back tire. Won't hold a complete fill. Only holds about 65% of air. 7. Need a new right side mirror. 8. Need a new bulb for right tail light. 9. Still having electrical problems. Yellow wires coming from regulator are getting very hot and are melting. Oh joy. 10. Need to see what's with my breaks. They don't seem to be "all the way there." 11. Need a new air filter. 12. Need to get rid of this piece of crap. Most of these problems probally came from it sitting around for 10 months and then me buying it as is. I give up. The problems are escalating quicker than I can fix them.

Alright guys. It's check up time Well, cleaned my carb and I can feel the difference. My pick up is quite amazing now. Next, I still have problems with my idle speed! The A/F mixture is good (I think) because I'm idling at 2,000 rpms! I've tried adjusting my idle screw, and nothing is happening. I've turned and turned and turned and turned. I stopped turning because I was thinking I was taking something loose or I'm going to make my carb blow up (silly me). I'm not sure as to how much turning it needs so I stopped and thought I'd better get some advice before I mess something up. I would turn it slightly, and wait. Nothing at all. Turned some more, waited, nada. I was like ummm ok? Turned a little more, waited, nothing again. Turned MORE. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Still was idling high and tire spinning like crazy. But today my scoot was idling at about 1900 - 2,000. The weather has had a sudden plumet and I hate it now Love the cold, but hate starting my scoot!! Took me ten cranks and playing with the throttle to get it to stay on and idle on its own!! Very ridiculous and embarrassing as people ask me if it's going to start or why does it keep shutting off....... So I'm going to do that Autochoke test that Alley told me to do. Quick question: Would this one work for my scoot? www.roketapartsonline.com/electric-choke-assembly-for-chinese-250cc-engines-p-10093.htmlI am going to order one, just want to make sure that it is the right one. Plus, adding to this, I have to turn my throttle a couple short times BEFORE I try to crank it to get gas moving. I have tried to crank it without doing this and my eyes blew out from rage LOL. And tonight, when I got off of work at 11 pm. With the temp as 40, it would try to idle low (with my help of course) and when it was about to shut off a couple of times, I would really give it some good throttle, and it would suddenly come on again. Like I just gave it gas. Probally just proves the fact that I need a new choke!! Now, update on the bogging and shutting off. Bogging is still there. From complete stop or hitting the breaks then going, it still bogs down pretty bad. After cleaning my carb I am concluding that my valves definitely need to be adjusted. Talked to the original owner, never had them done. Bought the scoot at 1600 miles and now have 2100. It's time for a good adjustment. With the carb clean though, after the bogging goes away, I take off like a rocket! Bogging isn't AS bad as before, but still pretty bad. Thanks for all of the help guys! I'm going to donate here soon! this place is just awesome! So guys, any input will like always be greatly appreciated Also, do I need special tools to do the valve adjustment myself? Seems like a pretty big job to do, and I'm not sure if I have the tools to set my valves at 0.004" ... Seems VERY tiny to me and I'm not sure if my RULER will read that ;D ;D ;D ;D

Allyoop, Thanks all sounds good! Just changed my oil a few days ago actually so the oil isn't my problem Where is this Enricher? Is it on the carb or where? I would definitely like to be able to start it and just let it be so it can warm up. So I will do my cleaning and what not first this weekend. I have no time this week between school and work. Now the valve adjustments may be the problem. I doubt if they have ever been adjusted. I will look in the tech section on how to do that. Thanks!!! Will definitely try all of these things and see how it runs

Well scoot has been running OK now. No electrical problems at all! People say my lights are bright as heck now Only problem is that my scoot really isn't running up to code. It seems to bog down really bad at times... Mainly when I'm at a complete stop and hit the gas to go. It will bog for 2 or 3 seconds and then finally go at a slow pace, then eventually the engine will "catch up" and I'm flying! I believe there are possibly several causes to this: 1) The gas in my scoot is farely old. My scoot was out of commission for 3 weeks. It had a quarter tank of 2 week old gas in it before I put 2 gallons of new gas in it. So all in all I'm running on a mixture of 3 week old gas. Could be a problem? 2) My carburetor. My RPM is actually PERFECT. It idles nice and strong. It's just that I need to adjust my idle lower. When my scoot is on its big stand and warming up, my back tire is spinning like crazy! Causing EXCESSIVE vibration through out my scoot. I will be adjusting that soon. My air to gas mixture seems to be pretty good because of the high rev. I believe I need to clean my carb though! I believe this may be a problem to my bogging downness. Also, this bogging downness is getting very annoying. I have to hold the gas down while my scoot is stopping in order to prevent it from shutting off! (I let my scoot warm up for 15 mins now, before it was around 2-4). After bogging down to go, I will eventually have to stop, and when I hit my breaks my RPM/idle odometer shoots down like crazy! So down it will shut my scoot off! Like I said I have to hold the gas down to prevent the shutting off, and my scoot sounds horrible doing this! The bogging is loud and deep, kinda embarrassing. Thing is though is that about 3 months ago I had my scoot serviced for a "tune up" at a scoot shop. I do not believe the mechanic cleaned my carb or did anything! My scoot ran the exact same as before I put it in the shop. I bought this scoot from a good family friend who said he had it sitting around for 10 months. I went and got a tune up and I had the same problems. Would cleaning my carb and adjusting my idle and/or air to gas mixture help heal my bogging and harsh shutting down, and harsh starting? To actually get my scooter to start is no problem, the weather is cooling down at night lots and it only takes me 3 tries to get my scoot to come on! The only problem is keeping it on. It will randomly bog down (drop rpm) and shut off. To prevent this, I hit the gas (this is all just to warm it up). Once it's warm enough, it will hold its idle strong, but then my tire starts to spin like a maniac! I also am going to change my gear oil. I'm not sure if this was EVER done. I'm scared to see what is in store for me. Alright. So I guess my overall question is: After cleaning my carb, properly adjusting my idle and gas to air mixture, putting good clean fresh high quality gas, and changing my gear oil give me a performance boost? I'm not 100% concerned about a performance "boost." Rather would it eliminate my dreadful bogging down and potentially make it easier to start/warm up? Thanks for all of your help guys! Saving so much money doing stuff myself rather than taking it to a shop! This place is awesome!!

Hey guys, me again! Well my MC-54-250B came with a remote start (works great) and Motorcycle sound. Well I bought this used (silly me) and the guy said the sound used to work good, but suddenly stopped. So ever since I had this I've had no motorcycle sound! Any ideas or suggestions on what to get? I checked all of my wiring (as some of you know I've been having electrical problems) and all wires are good. Just it doesn't come on. Thanks guys!
