once you take the filter off you decrease vacuum.

That works off vacuum. How do you know it is not going all the way up?
Remember it's vacuum verses spring pressure.

I'm thinking to open up the clutch and variator to check. when you have things apart run the engine and rev it a bit see if the noise is there. I wonder if it is crank bearing noise.

depending on how they wired it, it could be the blocking diode. Maybe a fuse.

my only question how did you test compression? If with a compression tester and how many cranks did you do. After that did you put in a tablespoon of oil in spark plug hole and test again did the compression change any? and did you hold the throttle opened wide? John

Have you looked at this ? 669 or 729 belt? As far as just clutch pads they are hard to come by and when you do there is only one set. John
