I believe the drum brake set up uses a 10 inch rim so you most likely will not be able to use a 13 inch rear wheel even if you could change over to drum brakes. The left crank case assembly is most likely shorter than the disk brake set up. Measure the distance from the end of the crankshaft to the rear axle to confirm this. Well, I stand corrected. I'm a little out of my league talking with the big boys anyway!

If its anything like mine, chances are the wheel will go right on, but you'll need to either disable (or remove) the drum brake components or swap out the brake lever for a drum brake model.
I'm going through the same thing with my new motor, even though mine is a mere GY6, not a 244cc. I'm leaning towards converting mine to a rear drum, since I've had issues with the rear caliper in the past. I just need to order the brake cable and the brake lever to go with it.

Excellent! A day ahead of schedule! I'll get the hoses in the mail to you... soon. LOL
I've got some serious cleanup to do my garage. Bits and pieces of motor and hardware everywhere! I'm lucky my wife has been extremely patient while I rebuild this thing!

That's a tempting idea, but I don't know if I have the patience for a project like that. Eh, maybe I'll try it on a rainy day, but I think for now I'm just going to replace it. Looks like I'll be waiting for my next payday. Getting paid once a month is not fun.

I'm probably going to do this. I don't think I've ever really needed an enricher down here in Florida. I was thinking about trying to make a block off plate for mine, but that appears to be a much easier way to do it!
This is so easy to reverse, too!

The good news... it idled for about 30 seconds this morning. ;D ;D The bad news... it stalled and hasn't started since. No Spark. I went through the Spark Diagnostics and it looks like my old 11 pole stator is toast. Nothing is registering on the supply or trigger wires. When I crank the motor, the headlights will barely glow now, too. I'm not surprised, because I was having some charging issues before the motor seized on me. I was just hoping it might have been something else. It looks like I'll be ordering a new stator, but is there any chance of rewiring the 8 pole stator to work? Maybe just as a temporary fix?

Nope. Most torque wrench are basically a socket wrench, that doesn't have a spinning head. I've seen two basic types: Some will have a scale on them that shows you how much force you are applying. You simply stop turning once you reach the needed torque. Others have a sort of dial that you tell it the torque you want to apply, then it will click as you reach that torque when turning it.

I'm probably going to go with HIDs on the Matrix, if I can get bulbs to fit the sockets. I have two different socket styles, so I hope I wouldn't have to buy two kits. A nice bonus is that I already have the 11 pole stator. I want to at least convert my headlights to DC, since I'm tired of the flickering when it idles.

Checklist to a running scoot: 1) Remove and replace stripped banjo bolt. Found a work around. 2) Install oil cooler with original longer oil lines3) Swap 11 pole stator from old motor4) Replace fuel filter5) Clean carb 6) Fresh tank of gas7) Double check all the Wiring 8) .... 9) Profit! So close!!! I actually tried to start it, but it would sputter and die. I thought I might get lucky and just have it work without cleaning the carb. Not so much! The good news is that I was getting some headlight action, so it appears the old stator is working.

So please explain what 'ho" and "hoe' is all about? Who wants to tackle that one?

I'm still going to use the old hoses. What I'm going to do is cut the hose with the stubborn banjo bolt about 6" from the end, then cut the old hose in about the same place. Last night I bought the brass splice fitting and a couple hose clamps. I planned on doing it last night, but I got home much later than expected because of a very serious accident that shut down I-4 for over two hours. www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/os-four-hospitalized-i-4-crash-20100915,0,5468129.story After about 45 minutes, I eventually bailed thru the median and took another route home.

I can only imagine that those cars are priced a little beyond my means... and you wouldn't want to know who was President when I was in HS.

Thanks, so I'm not completely crazy! ;D
I see a stop at Home Depot (maybe ACE) on my way home for that coupler and a new fuel filter.

I give up. I surrender. That bolt is NOT coming out. I think I'm going to leave the banjo bolt in place and just cut the hose, buy a nice brass coupler and splice the old hose and the new hose to fit.
If anyone thinks that's a bad idea, let me know. I'm not going to have any more garage time until Thursday.
Thanks for the info, Rich. I'll look into my wiring deeper later.

QUESTION: Is it common for two wires to go into a bullet connector, but be different colors?
Unless I've been smoking something that's making me see pretty colors, this appears to be happening all over my bike. I've been sitting on this question since last night, but I thought I should ask.
I, like an idiot, didn't label any wires or hoses as I disconnected them. I assumed the colors would all match up as I went to reassemble it.
