Yeah, he says he has a ground wire. Test the red/black from the stator and see what kind of voltage you get off of it. Set the multi for AC and put one probe in the wire connector. Ground the other probe and tell us what you get. what voltage should i set the multi meter to?

OK That points to the PLUG NOT FIRING which I did not hear once when you jumped it. Do you have a GROUND WIRE FROM MOTOR TO THE FRAME? Alleyoop Yea its grounded and secured well. Hmm not firing? i saw spark when i tested it though it was kinda dim but it was in full sunlight so... hmm

YO, if it starts right up with a jumper battery Your battery is weak and does not have enough GONDOLAS to spin the starter fast enough. And whoever tested your battery and said it was good doesn't know the positive post from the negative post. You can put a multi meter to a battery and most will read 12.? and you think (AH) I have a good battery BUT put a load on it and it drops like a rock, which is usually caused by a cell or 2 being bad. The multi meters read surface charge and not the individual cells. You can test each cell yourself as well and I have yet found ANY auto parts store to do that they just charge it up and HOPEFULLY put a load on the battery, but they do it in the back so you cannot see what they are doing. For all you know they are taking a dump Alleyoop @alleypoop and @bashan Ok this time it didnt start at all and I used a car to jump it(of course the car was off). So i tested for spark and have it then adjusted the valves again. Im charging the battery now so I hope it starts. They had an intelligent battery tester that load tests and a bunch of other stuff. He didnt in front of my face so im sure he didnt dump the place while testing it but at this point im considering a second opinion. rks I checked the lines from the battery and from the cylinder head they are secure. Here's a video of how it sounds trying to start when jumped.

I think what he means is squeezing the brakes and pushing the start button DOES NOT Operate the Starter ONLY when he jumps the two terminals. Also I think what he is saying is the starter is not turning over fast enough for it to start the motor SO i think his battery is weak as well as having a bad solenoid. My take on what he is saying and how he is explaining it. Alleyoop Ok, when I turn the key to on, pull the break, and press the start button, the starter does turn. As far as turning over the engine is concerned i am pretty sure it turns, but not fast enough to start the bike. You hear the starter and the engine turn everything but after the first few attempts the starter turns slower and slower. it does the same thing when I jump it (I only tried jumping the solenoid terminals because the troubleshooting tutorial said to). I thought the battery was weak but at the battery shop where they tested it they said it was a good battery. Has like 112-115 cca's and holds a charge well. if i hook the bike to a jump starter it will start though every time. can there be a loose wire somewhere that will cause the battery to drain or for power to leak in the wrong direction? Ill make a video of it starting in the morning.

Well i haven't checked for spark yet, I guess that is the next thing. I do believe i have a bad solenoid though because if i hit the brake while the key is in the on position the brake light does turn on. I also must note that since i switched from premium to regular the mileage increased but the bike became harder to start. I can however start the bike with a jump starter. so???

what are the dangers to bypassing the solenoid?
and to be perfectly clear, "My starter does turn over using the starter button but wont start the bike".
