it's a 157 qmj & it clicked before I even started the engine up.of course I rotated the fan and stuff as soon as I got the chain on. It clicked on the first rotation. I thought it was because the chain was tight but upon realizing that I missed the step of adjusting the tensioner I tended to that. I quickly realized that was not the problem.this video of me starting it was only the second time hitting the start button. I immediately unhooked the battery and spark plug after that video. the head came defective.it's just that top valve.
Ali I'll take a picture of the rocker arms for you in the morning when the Sun comes up.the camshafts high point Goes down but the rocker arms and the valve stay in place then at some random point (not really random) the valve pops up and makes that clicking noise.

I set my valves to .005 intake and .008 exhaust. I'll set them both to .004

my timing seems to be correct. could it be a problem with the new cylinder head? it came with valves pre-installed. I know it's the top valve that is clicking and it doesn't seem to fit the same as the previous cylinder head that I took off. the cylinder head that I took off does not click. google searching valve clicking isn't much help.

cool man, thanks I'll try that as soon as I get this cylinder head problem resolved. In the meantime might this have anything to do with it?
