You know, It's bad enough when you are out for a ride and you pass a Harley or big bike and they don't even acknowledge you. This is one instance where size does'nt matter. Whether it's 1100 cc or 50 cc, we are all sharing a love or passion with two wheels. The feel of wind and bugs in your teeth, leaning into a turn, quick acceleration off the line, the smell of manure and road kill so pungent it curls the hair in your nostrils. You all know what I am talking about, you RIDE a bike but you DRIVE a car. Yet some of these people think they are better than me because the have a hog or glide under them. Some of these people have 25-30K in their bikes but don't have two nickles to rub together. Their choice, their lifestyle, neither of mine. It"s bad enough getting snubbed by some Harley dude with a bandana and shades cause he thinks he is in some way shape or form better than me, but when I get dissed by a guy on a scooter, ? I passed a guy on a 250 looks like and I gave him a wave and he never even looked at me? Are you kidding? I know he saw me. I don't understand people. When I take out the vette, I wave at every other vette regardless of the year. I don't snub people driving a C6 because it's too new and they just bought it without working in it. I don't hink, hey, when I need my oil changed, I climb under the car and do it but they take it to the dealership and have them change it. I don't think I am any better cause I get some dirt under my fingernails! Hell no! I give them the, "V" sign signifying VETTE to say great, we have the same love. Yea, I'm pissed.

Maybe it was a Nub too afraid to let go to wave or take his eyes off the road.

I miss a lot of riders coming toward me...look up and there they are. The way I figure it on them harleys with the loud no muffler exhausts is if it is loud enough to cause my ears to hurt, continuous exposure to that noise probably causes brain damage so don't jump all over the mentally ill. john

ZUGZUG , If another scooterdude doesn't wave or give you the low wave, he's scared to death to let go of the handle bar. I generally pass the same bikers on the way to work every day and we all give each other the low wave. Now sometimes, I have gotten the old head nod that acknowledges a hello. This I take this as a greeting because , he has to be a rookie and won't let go of the handle bar . We all understand as we all have been there with our 1st bikes or scoots. So , take it easy and enjoy the ride.

It's kinda funny, these weekend warriors on their 30K Harleys and fake club jackets will start to wave when they see me coming on my scooter but when they see what it is they hastily pull their hand in...HA! I wave anyhow, like you say, two wheels are two wheels. Hell, I get bicyclists waving at me all the time, theyre nice folks. I ride my Vulcan all year to work (heated suit) 80 mile round trip. I don't see another motorcyclist till April then everybody's waving wildly. I could snub them as fair weather riders but I give them the low wave like they want, what the hell. Rich

I agree that fear of turning loose of the handle bars is one reason you dont get a wave. And it is true that the HD wannabes will always snub you around here. You can always recognize them, they are the middle aged guys with the shiny new bikes, wearing flipflops, t shirts, shorts, and the blonde behind them wears even less!! They sure mess up the road when they fall off!!!! Around here you get snubbed by the crotch rocket riders, the "Bad Boy" wannabes, but the serious bikers always seem to return the wave. These are the guys you see parked outside the biker bars. They are sure enough of them selves to be able to acknowledge any one on two wheels. I give the wave to anybody on two (or 3) wheels and could care less if it is not returned. It is only common curtesy and those who dont return it are the ones who end up looking like schleps!!!

I was out on the bike a couple of weeks ago. Same thing. Everybody waved back. Harleys, Beemers, crotch rockets. The only guy not to. A 150 Vespa. I laughed. I figured maybe he thought I was making fun of him or something. His loss. He couldn't see the "My Other Bike is a Chinese Scooter" T shirt I was wearing under my leather jacket.

Please do not put all Harley Riders in the same classification. Things change, it isn't the machine it is the rider. Years ago, every bike I passed always aknowledged me and other 2 wheeled folks on the rode with a low hand or a nod. No matter what we were riding. It was the respect for 2 wheels. Now that the "Rich Status Seeking Low Life Wanna Bees" are riding, the "friendship" of the road has taken a dramtic drop. Don't feel bad, these folks also turn their noses down to anyone that doesn't look like they make 6 figures or better. In the day, your local Harley shop had "real" people running them and doing repairs, no "I am better than you" attitude, and a beer in the fridge if you wanted one. Now they are more interested in selling T-Shirts and Jewlery. Times have changed and in my opinion not for the good.
I my case, an old time Harley rider, I will always give the low wave to any 2 or 3 wheeler I see coming at me.

I agree with all the posts. I went for about a 30 mile ride yesterday and must have past 30 bikes of all shapes and sizes. I have started to give the head nod unless somebody gives me the lo wave, then I return it. Most guys did not even return the nod. I guess that is the way it is.
