First time posting here. Here is my situation, I have a 2007 ARGO AR150-2 150cc scoot that i had just recently purchased used. Battery seems not charging because every other day i have to put the battery to the charger to start my scoot. I just recently purchased the battery from autozone a week ago duralast etx9 for $90..and just installed a new reg/rec. The old regulator that came with the bike has 6 wires, red, black, white, yellow, pink and green and i got the same replacement reg with the same color coding. i did a stator test and green= 0, yellow = 22V and white 20v all on idle. and still the battery seems doesnt charge..Can anyone please guide me to the right direction..here is a copy of the wiring diagram of the scoot.

Do the stator test revving the engine up also set the meter to VAC not DC. Those are low valves should be at least in the 30s+ revving it should be 50+ Volts AC.

Put your multi on the terminals of the battery, red to red, black to black. Set the multi to DC range to accomodate up to 20v. Start the bike and give it some RPMs. What kind of DC voltage are you getting? Rich

Alley - multi set to ac, yellow 36v 3000rpm and white 42v.
Bashan - multi set to dc and i am getting 12.62v

I diconnected the headlights and the voltage seems to go up 1 volt everytime i rev it. As soon as i connect the head lights the reading on the battery drops down really quick..right now headlights disconnected and im getting 12.75v and climbing everytime i rev it..headlights connected 12.19v then it goes down 1 volt at a time. My headlights are 55w

AH, that is your problem 55w bulb headlights the scooter charging system is MINIMAL AT BEST and 55w bulbs take a lot of juice. So you have TWO options put in 35W bulbs or do a stator conversion which TVNACMAN can help you with that. Alleyoop

Thank you for the quick reply you guys! I dont understand why from the factory and on the manual says they are 55w. Because i bought the scoot used and i have no clue if this is an existing problem from the day the scooter got purchased..one more thing that i notice is when i disconnect the red wire with the 7amp fuse i am only getting 2.6- 3.3v when i rev it. Is it supposed to be atleast 13v ?

Shouldn't the DC charging voltage also be 13.3+ but less than 14.5. That is what I adjusted my early motorcycle to.

The previous owner probably changed to 55w those scoots do not come with 55w bulbs I can guarantee you that. Some of the new ones come with HD headlights but they are setup for that but if you take your every day chinese scooter and put in 45w or 55w bulbs the system cannot handle it.
A lot of the 50cc scoots come with a 6 pole stator and the 150s 8 pole stators.
Yes a good charging system should be 13+ Optimal charge would be 14.7 just like your cars, if it gets to 15+ then the R/R is overcharging and it will ruin the battery. Alleyoop

I attached a copy of the manual technical specs of the scooter. Does this mean that my stator is bad? 20-22v on idle and around 40v revving it to 3000rpm or is it another bad regulator..? I am totally lost and I do feel I wasted my money buying this scooter..

Well you stator with those numbers is NOT GOOD, but because the stator is not putting out you DO NOT really know if the Regulator is bad also UNTIL you get a good stator that puts out to the R/R THEN you will have to test the R/R with a good stator so they both could be bad. That spec sheet looks likt it was modified BRO What scoot is it year and model I will look it up. Alleyoop

Thanks Alley! Its a 2007 ARGO AR150-2 150cc chinese made. It had an 8 pole stator. The weird part is the regulator that came with it.it has 6 wires and the pink wire is the only one that doesnt match among all the wires on the diagram..

If all the others match the pink wire is for the ENRICHER on the Carb. Oh and supposedly that scoot comes with HD headlights(nice) so I was wrong they must be 55W HD bulbs. So either the Stator is different and or the R/R to put out enough to support those headlights. It says it puts out 98DC.

That is one freaky deeky wiring diagram bro. If (IF) it's correct it looks like a true single phase without a yellow center tap. By that I mean there is no split on the yellow to supply the lights and a black wire runs right from the R/R. I'm not sure what your values would be on that stator. Try something for me, set your multi to AC volts up to 100 and disconnect the stator. Put one probe in the yellow and one in the white. Start it and give us the voltage at idle and then some RPM. Then ground one probe to frame and test the yellow with the other probe and then the white. By the way, you have to take Chinese stat pages and diagrams with a grain of salt, they are wrong a LOT.

I did find this which would make sense with his setup.
