Oil is at level and the chain is still on the cam. i adjusted the valves and tightened the rocker arms 100 times. my plug has always been wet but now its dry. fuel delivery to the carb is good but from carb to engine im not sure

have to be completely honest. after i got it running a couple of days ago by draining the bad gas tightening the 4 bolts that hold down the cam and adjusting the f/a ration screw, i figured i could run half premium and half the gas that i drained out(bad gas). it didnt run a mile... and her i am. i did everything i did to get it starting before 4 times over

Can I swear now? You don't need premium in a scooter, they actually run worse on it. It has nothing special in it other than spark retardants for high compression engines. It has less energy per unit volume than regular. But the retardants allow you to harvest more energy from the gas that runs through a high compression engine. Run regular unless it knocks and then bump up a grade.
You put bad gas back in it. Really? Can you lean forward a bit?
OK, let's move on. If you are sure that gas is getting freely down into the carb, but it's dry beyond that.....90% probability it's the float valve. Pull the carb apart and inspect it really close. The plunger has a spring action, make sure that is working. Some of them have a little basket up in there that catches crud....look for that. Make sure it opens and closes easily.

See the CARB VENT HOSE rotate that straight up and pour 1 1/2 ozs of gas into the carb bowl and just try to start it. That is enough fuel to cover the jets in the bowl in case the bowl is dry .

think it could be the piston rings?

warning! adult content!... Rich Hey guys I'm back, The bike hasn't started since our last discussion because i didn't dedicate time to it. now i want to ride, so i'm picking up where we left off. I found a piece of plastic the size of the exhaust pipe hole in the piston cylinder. Any idea where from? the exhaust pipe has a copper gasket. i suspect it wouldn't start because my intake manifold gasket was all mangled. i usually piece it together before reassembling... should i use Permatex Ultra Black Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker for intake manifold? if so, how long before it dries?
do my piston rings look too stretched open, or the gap too wide?

Everything looks ok, the rings spring open when they are not in the cylinder so the gaps will be much wider. Now do not rotate the rings so that the gaps are above one another otherwise you will loose compression and oil will get up to the chamber. And that rubber part looks like the gasket on the bottom of the INTAKE MANIFOLE which is the black curved piece that attachs to the motor and the carb attachs to it. So look on the bottom of it and there should be a RUBBER O_RING all the way around it which seals it to the motor. So if that is mangled then you had a very bad air leak causing your problem. Either get a new manifold they are cheap or take it to the hardware store they may have a O-Ring that will fit. Alleyoop
