I think what he means is squeezing the brakes and pushing the start button DOES NOT Operate the Starter ONLY when he jumps the two terminals. Also I think what he is saying is the starter is not turning over fast enough for it to start the motor SO i think his battery is weak as well as having a bad solenoid. My take on what he is saying and how he is explaining it. Alleyoop Ok, when I turn the key to on, pull the break, and press the start button, the starter does turn. As far as turning over the engine is concerned i am pretty sure it turns, but not fast enough to start the bike. You hear the starter and the engine turn everything but after the first few attempts the starter turns slower and slower. it does the same thing when I jump it (I only tried jumping the solenoid terminals because the troubleshooting tutorial said to). I thought the battery was weak but at the battery shop where they tested it they said it was a good battery. Has like 112-115 cca's and holds a charge well. if i hook the bike to a jump starter it will start though every time. can there be a loose wire somewhere that will cause the battery to drain or for power to leak in the wrong direction? Ill make a video of it starting in the morning.

If the battery shop is right, and there is nothing wrong with your battery, but scooter won't start or turn over fast enough......And when scooter is jump started from another source, it always starts....then there is a loose, corroded, or bad connection somewhere in your scooter. Check the ground wire from the battery 1st.....needs a good clean connection to frame (no rust, no paint), if so, sand to bare metal, connect ground cable and smear a bit of grease on it to protect from corrosion.

It is good that your ENGINE ground strap is attached, but I was referring to the battery ground wire (the black one that attaches to the (-) post on your battery)

Take the battery out. Hook your jumper cables up directly to the battery cables. Hook the other ends of the jumpers to another battery. You can use a car just NOT RUNNING. If it starts normally it is probably the battery. Maybe it's too small or has a bad cell. Did they load test it or just check the voltage? But I can tell you for certain if the bike starts in the manner I described it is not the ignition switch, solenoid, start button, brake circuit, or battery cables. There is a small possibility it is the starter going bad but I'd put my money on a bad battery.

YO, if it starts right up with a jumper battery Your battery is weak and does not have enough GONDOLAS to spin the starter fast enough. And whoever tested your battery and said it was good doesn't know the positive post from the negative post. You can put a multi meter to a battery and most will read 12.? and you think (AH) I have a good battery BUT put a load on it and it drops like a rock, which is usually caused by a cell or 2 being bad. The multi meters read surface charge and not the individual cells. You can test each cell yourself as well and I have yet found ANY auto parts store to do that they just charge it up and HOPEFULLY put a load on the battery, but they do it in the back so you cannot see what they are doing. For all you know they are taking a dump Alleyoop

So i tested for spark and have it then adjusted the valves again. Im charging the battery now so I hope it starts. They had an intelligent battery tester that load tests and a bunch of other stuff. He didnt in front of my face so im sure he didnt dump the place while testing it but at this point im considering a second opinion. rks I checked the lines from the battery and from the cylinder head they are secure. Here's a video of how it sounds trying to start when jumped.

Your starter mechanism is working fine. That sounds like no spark to me. Did you hold the plug electrode against the valve cover while cranking on the jump? Check for spark with a decent battery hooked up.

I checked for spark. It lit up but the spark was dim. It was also in full sunlight too so...
