I have no idea what you will get with an off brand. Probably better than rock hard OEM tires. I do know what to expect out of name brand tires and outside of dunlop the rest of them are all great. In my opinion it is not good to skimp on a tire, its all that's between you and the road. It might be ok if you will never ride when wet or conditions bad and never push a scooter in a corner, I am 72 years old and I still corner hard and still do a bit of sliding on dirt. When a tire lets you down you get hurt. My rides all have had pirelli tires the last bunch of years. When I got the chinese scooter and the riva the first thing I did was order new tires for both and the chinese was brand new. The rock hard tires on it were used to start a big bonfire of green wood and a couple tree stumps.

I guess it all depends on the use of the tire. I have one on the front of my 50cc trike. It has held up well over 3k miles. Still has a lot of tread left. It has fairly good traction on wet roads. As I said it depends, trikes steer different than two wheels, so performance on a two wheeler may differ. When it comes time to replace the front tire I will go with the same, as I like the way it handles and lasted on my trike.

I've always used Michelin or Pirelli's. I've looked for cheaper tires, but in the long run, it's not really worth it.

Hi how high do you guys rate the Kenda K413's I wouldn't suggest a Kenda K413 to anyone as a drive tire......unless you enjoy changing tires every 2000 or so miles. That is what I got out of a 120/70 12 in that brand and model number.....actually 2200 miles....worn to the wear bars. (I am not hard on tires, I ride very conservatively, and I pay close attention to maintenance) I will never buy another Kenda Tire.

Kenda makes an excellent TRAILER tire. Long wear and load capacity.

How about a Maxxis? It's OEM on the SYM and I'm at 10K. I do need a rear but it's not terrible. I'm just having trouble finding one. It's a 140/70-16

Have you tried calling SYM to see if they can source replacements? I'm always keeping my eyes open for 16" options for my new SSR.

Wouldn't regular motorcycle dealers carry 16" tires?

They are "Stealers" around here. I found 4 170/40-16's on Bike Bandit. I bought a Metzeler for $100.00. They also had two different Pirellis both sport rated, and an Avon Stryker for a little less than the Metzeler. Bike Bandit is fast and reliable.

Wouldn't regular motorcycle dealers carry 16" tires? Yes, but I was trying to help Bashan find a particular brand. There are plenty of 120/80-16 choices, but 140/70-16 is a bit more difficult to source, and Maxxis doesn't seem to carry them in the US, they only list 90/100-16 knobbies on their site.

Thanks Jerry, I did want the Maxxis because it lasted so long. But I did a little calling around and the stealers had to order it and it was at least a week. I ordered from Bike Bandit this morning and it shipped at NOON! It should be here tomorrow or Thursday. A friend of mine runs a bike shop (backyard) and he wanted to put it on this weekend before he left town. I figure I'll pull the rear wheel Thursday and take it to him.
