I must of had a bare wire or more behind my plastic cover in front.the ignition wires all melted together and I fixed that.the wires that go to the front brake switch melted so I threw them away.it starts now without pulling in the lever witch I don't mind.what does bother me is when I put my left blinker on the right comes on and when I put the right on nothing happens.i can hear the flasher but no blinker.switched the bulbs and no different.also my brake light is always on.obviously something is wrong.i don't have the wires connected to the front right or the rear .I know im asking a lot of questions.its a 2011 jonway and cant find any diagrams on line

Please do there are a ton of manuals and diagrams to check out,,,, also contact Jim at Rapid repair,,, he has a tile ad at the top of the home page,,, he may be able to get you a new harness or steer you in the right direction to get one,,, I would recommend a new harness myself in any event it sounds like you have a bunch of wires to replace/ cut back and tap on new ones,,, a new harness may be less hassle and ultimately less expensive in the long run

I think you need to make sure you have an inline fuse between your battery and ignition switch. Sounds like somehow or another the original was removed/bypassed.

Memories....My first car, I was installing a new stereo, had everything hooked up and was listening to it as I was screwing the dash back in. All of a sudden smoke started to pour out of the dash vents. I was running around yelling "MY CAR IS ON FIRE!" when my dad walked out and calmly unhooked the battery terminals. Turns out I had not grounded properly, and ended up melting the main wiring harness all the way across the dash. My father told me I could spend $150 on a new wiring harness (80s prices), or $20 on some wire and rebuild it myself. I was a teenager flipping burgers a few hours a week, so I chose the $20 route, and learned a much more valuable lesson in the process.

You can not start with out the brake light on. Your two wires are shorted together some where.

You have a short. When you pull in the brake it energizes not only the brake light but the starting circuit. Look at this diagram and follow the brake light circuit and solenoid circuit:
You have constant juice to the solenoid which is bad. I bet if you look at your brake light it is on all of the time. Either the switch is bad for the brake light handle or there's a short somewhere down the circuit.

the wires from the switch aren't even in the switch ,neither is the left side.heres a thought since you mentioned solenoid.i installed one a few days ago made for a lawn mower and that might be why I was blowing fuses.i ran out of fuses and bypassed it that's how my wires melted.and yes my brake light is always on

I just changed out solenoid with original that wasn't it.i have the black wire tied to the green with yellow stripe that's how im getting it to start.im assuming when I put the green with yellow stripe from both brakes and connect it with the one green and yellow stripe.then take both black from the brakes and connect it with the black im good.then I just need to disconnect the black and green with yellow stripe.im understanding it now

Going to go back to what you've been already told, look at the diagram, take some pictures, you have wires crossed and hooked to the wrong things and unlike you we can't see the wires. Lot's of members can help you if they can see what you have, it's almost a must when you have wiring issues like this.
