Hi, its been a while since i posted here, its been a pretty busy winter and spring for me with work and my scooter. I.m almost done with my build, just got a few loose ends to finish so here it is. Im sorry if its a link to another forum, i'm just to lazy to repost 4 pages of picture heavy stuff. Enjoy. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/11153/guts-looks-build

Very Nice. I've got a project I need some welding for. Care to volunteer?

Every build log I see that involves welding makes me think more and more about learning how to weld and upgrading from my miniscule 80 amp buzz box stick welder.

An 80 amp buzz box converted to DC will out weld the cheap wire welders at the same amps. With DC you don't get the awful spatter the flux wire puts out and you get better penetration. 80 amps is not going to weld thick metal no matter how you use it though.
I use 1/16" rods with almost no spatter at all on DC. I have a 230 amp buzz box that I converted and added DC outputs and can weld up to about 130-150 amps DC. and up to 230 AC. Was going to get one of those Cheap flux wire welders and a pro welder talked me out of it. I put a DC bridge in the low output and left the high output alone. Have continuously variable outputs on AC and DC.

I think we could seriously use a thread on how to weld. Obviously there is more to it than you can read, but I'm sure some YouTube vids can be found.
JR? Can we do this and make it a sticky? It seems to me that welding would come in handy for any of us doing work on our bikes.
