OK, there was a thread on the dog forum about installing an airl fuel gauge and the benefits of it. I thought this would be VERY cool so.... My fellow ASSC Utah club member Skye (yes the one whol built the cuctom chooter) is an awsome welder and helped me by welding an adapter and bung onto the stainless Header. I still need to tune it, I can say I am running waaay rich and am expecting some speed gains when I lean it out. Here are some pics. Sorry not to many, I will answer any questions. The exhaust is my version of the lawnmower muffer mod with a fancy tip over it. (posting the links to the album because for whatever reason the IMG codes are not working) PHOTOBUCKET ALBUMI like the location of the gauge, jus tnot how it sits. I need to mod it so it will angle up so I can read it while I ride. I am also going to put in a volt meter on the oposite side of it just to balance it out in the looks department.

Seems to work great. A little louder than my old NCY one, but looks great. Now to jetting and tuning.

VERY cool exhaust, love the canister look. Is that not different from your exhaust in the other album? Anyway, exactly how does that work? The bung you installed measures O2 left in the exhaust or what? Then you adhust the mixture accordingly I assume, that would be handy. Rich

Rich Completely different exhaust, I stil have that one and the header but so far, I am really liking this one. I will not attempt to explain how the sensor works other than to say it converts whatever it senses to voltage and the guage reads it. I have not really been able to tune it yet, but I know that I am running waay rich at idle, and I am assuming at speed as well. I need to adjust the mount of the guage so that I can read it better while I am riding as right now it is almost imposible.

So far it works well, it is louder than the old one, but since recently I am riding with a lot of folks with 150cc 2 stroke vespas and Stellas no one notices. ;D The header was $25 (all stainless) and was bought from 'headman' over on SD. It is a very solid piece of harware.

Where did you get the air/fuel ratio meter from? How far did the sensor stick into the pipe? My concerns here are restrictions in the pipe. Great idea.

You know Hdtrucker2941 I thought the same thing but didn't want to sound negative about it. It seems like what gains you might get from the new exhaust would be lost by sticking a bung (man I hate saying that word!) in it. I was afraid to say anything, I thought Jake might cyber smack me.

LOL @ both of you. it only sticks into the exhaust tube about 1/2" and has holes in it so I really don't think it is an issue. The idea of restriction was brought up in the thread in SD, but with the upgraded large tube header I really don't think it is an issue. I have my idle running as close to perfect as I can get it and am getting close on my running mix. See the album for the guage, and the sensor I got from a vendor I use and like on ebay called 'sixity' I really like the guage, but the vendor (actually the manufacturer) states in the add and in corespondance with me that a sensor is included with the guage but it did not include one. Other than saying sorry, they could not/would not make it right with me so they got a neutral rating from me.

I really like the Ida of an AF ratio gauge it takes all the guesswork out of tuning. I built a custom header pipe out of black pipe on my 50cc so I could easily add an O2 sensor.

The sensor I got from the vendor "sixity" on ebay and the guage I got on ebay from a vendor I won't name because they would not work with me on the gauge when they confirmed it came with a sensor and it did not.

I would be happy to know which vendor not to buy from:) And I probably would have either returned or given a neg to them also.

I did not return it because I really like the gauge, but I did give neutral feedback. I don't remember the name they use on Ebay, but it is the ebay presence for the manufacturer, Glow Shift. They make a great selection of gauges, the "wideband" gauges come with sensors, but the narrow band ones don't. I actually sent a PM before ordering to confirm it came with a sensor and they said it did. When it arrived, it did not have one so I called them, and they said they did not have a narrow band sensor to send me so I would have to return it. I chose not to. The "wideband" gauge and sensor are much more expensive, and in my uneducated opinion, are not needed for our purposes. The wideband ones are used by cars with fuel injection and computers and use the detailed information so the computer can adjust injection etc. All we are doing is using the gauge to adjust a carb manually. So there you go.........
