On my Helix clone, I have to raise the kick stand, that's ok, but then I have to push on the rear brake to start it. I would like to disable that safety switch, anyone know an easy way to do that?

Why?
Its on there for a reason.
Use the front brake if you don't like using the foot brake. With out one brake or the other on you would be a fool to start your engine seeing that the scooter is always in gear and will take off when given gas.

If you want to bypass it here is how to do it: To disable follow the wire from the sidestand up the frame to the first plug in line. It may be near the battery and frame, Unplug it and fuse the two wires together on the hot side. Hot side= battery side of (plug) wiring. Alleyoop

Thanks! It won't start with the front brake on.

Does your brake lights come on when you squeeze the front brakes? They should come on with either brake squeezed unless the switch is bad or the front brakes do not activate anything but the front brakes. But I would imagine for safety that they would. If they did before then that means the brake switch is bad on the front brakes. Alleyoop

Yes, the brake lights come on using the front brake and the rear. When I hold the front brake and hit the starter button, the headlight goes out. I would expect that is correct to divert the poser to the starter, but it doesn't do anything else.

AH, you have a short on that switch. Check the two wires going to the switch and trace them back to the plug. The brake switchs send voltage to TWO things the brake lights and the SOLENOID. So that means the YELLOW and GREEN wire from that switch going to the solenoid is disconnected or came out of the plug and is only sending voltage to the brake lights. Should be an easy fix. Alleyoop

Thanks, I'll look into it. Should the headlight go out, or do I have a hornets nest hear?

Once you find the LIVE WIRE that is touching something and fix it the headlights should not go completely out they may DIM but should work just like the Rear works. Alleyoop

When I start it with the rear brake, the light does the same thing, so I guess it's ok. I'm just trying to get the covers off!

Ok, this is odd. On the front brake switch there are two wires, a black and a green. At the volume switch there is a plug with black and green wires that is just hanging out will-nilly. When I put the meter on the green wire at the brake, I have continuity at both the black and green wire of that little plug. The black wire at the brake switch does nothing. I don't know what they have to do with each other, but it's strange.

Well with the KEY on 1 wire should have voltage going to the switch THEN when the brakes are squeezed it pass's the voltage to the other wire which goes to the solenoid and brake lights.
You said when you squeeze the brake the brake lights come on so One of the wires has voltage no TWO WAYS ABOUT IT BRO. So fine the wire with voltage going to the switch THEN FOLLOW the other wire which should FEED the BRAKE LIGHTS and SOLENOID. Alleyoop

Cool, thanks! I'll investigate further once I recover from this! I have back/hip/leg issues which is why I have a problem with the back brake when I'm stopped. The whole reason I got rid of the Harley and got the scooter, and I'm not much better off. Supposed to see a spine doctor sometime soon, hope he can fix me, then I can fix my scooter!

I think you need a Trike that is why I got one. With a Trike no balance issues just sit like watching TV when you come to stops.

Can't afford one, but it wouldn't help. I'm pinching something in my back that destroys my legs, can't do squat. If they can fix that, then I could still ride my old Harley too. As it is, I can hardy straddle the scooter, and then I can't lift my legs. Sucks.
