It doesn't take much for me to grab the '91 Nighthawk out of the garage. Temps were in the mid forties and the little woman needed something from Town. It was only a scant ten mile trip but it lightens my soul every time I ride the red wonder. Hopefully the mild season will continue. A more deliteful and just plain oldie fun machine to ride you'll have to look long and hard to equal,,,,the rebels are a close second but it's the riding position that makes it that way,,,good fun indeed,,,they (honda) sold a serious bunch of them,,,and for good reason,,,reasonably fast,,great mileage,,decent ride quality,,,and with a few inexpensive and judicious upgrades that are very easy to do you'd have a contender for best machine in the stable next to the 750,,,and if you take in consideration of no long distance rides over 100-150 miles round trip,,,it would easily slip into the #1 spot nicely,,,I was howling that for a few months after you got it,,even tho I just got my recent "heavy" ,,,for the money you got that thing for I'd snap it up in a half second,,,I still think you stole it for a few hundred dollars even tho you think you overpaid

I was only dismayed at the time over being fibbed to by the seller. Its carburetor was seriously screwed up and the starter motor was shot. The more I ride it the more I realize what a steal it was. The Rebels are newer by a lot but the Hawk is a lot more fun. It's not a miniature chopper and sits about as high and long as my 750. Only the ride is better for me. The Kawasaki has bags more horsepower but steers and feels heavy. I put a small windshield on it and it did the trip here with ease. I wouldn't flinch at using it on a long ride. A set of soft bags would make it an excellent sport tourer. The windshield was a steal too. I bought a pair of them for $100 from Ebay and put the other one on my Daughter's Rebel. The things at least look better than the Slipstreamer I bought for the other Rebel and the brackets are solid as is the attaching hardware. It kept the wind off most of me and didn't impede with anything.

I thought to myself " that lucky bastard just scored a serious bike for no money and doesn't know it" when you got that thing,,,that exact bike here in socal would have been $800-900,, so yea I must admit I am a little jealous ,,, drum brake and all,,, but don't feel sorry for me I scored a r80st for $3000 with 372 miles so I don't feel bad,, and I'd still snag that great machine you got instantly

The weather around here has been pretty cruddy this week so the old scooter has just been sitting in the garage. Today I just had to take it out even though it was cold. It's still running like a Swiss Watch and ready to go. I just did a two mile loop to warm it up and headed back to home. The thermometer said 30* but the wind chill was at 20*. Cool enough for me.

RAIN RIDE last nite,,, a little light drizzle when I left the house to see my young son in his Christmas recital ,,, I brought a cover with me as I decided to take the Stella instead of the dr350,,,nothing I dislike more than gettin on a bike with a wet seat ,,, when it was time to leave it was raining ,, not a downpour but enough to have me sayin poopy!!! Then we went to dinner,,, still raining but the cover kept the seat dry and that's all that mattered,,, I gotta tell you boys and girls the genuine brand is often overlooked and maligned,,, in my experience I find the brand a solid well built machine,,, a few little niddling minor problems in the beginning but all in all a capable and dependable ride

30 degrees here...........not in the least bit tempted to ride. Will check and see about a movie`set in the Caribbean or Tahiti on netflix. Probably going to dump netflix soon as I seldom watch anything and they recently raised rates.

I ride in to work said it was 20° felt like 15° Fahrenheit. I finally figured out my carb tuning. Yea me!
I wonder if someone has figured out at what temperatures the adjustments are needed?
So, for 100° and above, 90 to 80 and do on down to negative 30° Fahrenheit.
If it's acting funny at all speeds, try the air fuel mixture screw. If it is just us acting funny at idle, idle screw, if acting funny at take off to mid throttle , try the needle clip, if it's acting funny at just mid range to WOT then re-jet?
Do one change and check results.

OK, rode today, 15° not bad. The ride home was weird, bogged down at like 45mph.
Here's my new question. I am noticing take off acting sluggish, and makes a bit of a popping hollow noise until like 20 mph. So I moved the clip on needle back up one. It's cold but I am uncomfortable re-jetting from #112 to the #115 because if it gets warmer at all I'll have to regret. So I should try the air fuel mixture screw adjustment first.
Do one change and check results.

Left with and drive on the Lance to VA hospital for physical therapy. Got back on at 3:40pm and the roads had iced up. Very scary driving in rush hour traffic in downtown St Louis going 15 mph and everyone the going 10-15 mph faster. I made across the Mississippi too on bridge that is only 35 mph. I of course did 15mph. It true to fish tail many times. I'm going to stop driving it. I'm going to go back to Honda until it's above freezing all day.
Stay safe all. Do one change and check results.

I was wandering through the garage and remembered that the Bashan Eagle needed gas. We're having one of those odd forty degree days in December here so I decided to take it for a spin. It's been a while since I last rode on 10" wheels. After all the motorcycle riding with bigger wheels my personal gyroscope needed adjustment. After the usual ten mile ride the scooter and I pulled into the garage. Tank full, mission accomplished.

That looks like white crap across the street! It will take a while to get that out of my mind. Moved to arkansas to be rid of cold, snow, and ice and been freezing my butt off the last few weeks.

It was a slight bit warmer today, with temperatures in the mid forties. I had a few short errands to run and the sun was shining so out came the Bashan Eagle again. It is so easy to pick up a gallon of milk with the trunk under the seat and the leg shields to keep the wind off me. I always enjoy the trip to town when I go on two wheels and being able to do it two days before Christmas is even better.
