On my Linhai 260 I have rarely used the center stand because it is almost impossible to lift the scooter and get the stand in place. I have owned a Honda Goldwing in the past and it was easier to get on the center stand. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal. I have a cable hoist in my shop and I have used it to lift the scooter in order to secure it on the center stand.

Not the best design on some of the scooters. Could be improved on if you are a welder.

Practice. When you first got your wing I bet getting it on the center stand wasn't easy. I couldn't get mine on the center stand either for a while, now it's no problem. You'll figure it out. Put more of your weight on the center stand, and pull back on the passenger hand hold. Little girls can do it!

That is not a bad idea. I'll get the welder out and work on that.

I usually grab the rear rack wih my right hand, the left handle bar with my left, step on the stand and rock it backwards. It's different than a big bike I THINK because the swingarm and rear suspension. Practice practice practice. I had a he!! Of a time getting the thing on the stand at first. But, finally found the right rhythm.

I have been trying that technique and am successful, but I think the bar one steps on is not long enough to give the correct leverage so I am going to extend it some, but not so much that it sticks out past the scooter.

I agree with ya there. I looked for a different stand, but now I am accustomed to it this way. I believe the little foot peddlething should be a little longer and maybe wider.

I am going to make it about 3" longer and make a larger foot pedal. At 71 I do not have the lifting power I used to have! But, I am still a good welder....

Once you get that pedle right, you really won't need to lift it on the stand, you can use its own inertia. Step rock and pull just a bit. Let us know what you end up doing and how it works out . When I finally heal up enough to ride, I won't be able to pull that heavy bastatd up on the stand.

Should the center stand raise the rear wheel off the ground or just stabilize the scooter?

1/2" or so off the ground so you can rev engine a little.

I solved my issue. Today I extended the center stand arm almost four inches. I also gave it a bit o a bend towards the rear. It really makes a difference. So much easier to get scooter on center stand now. As to how far the rear wheel is off the ground when on the center stand may depend on the make of scooter. My Linhai back wheel is about two inches from the ground when on the center stand. My thought is, those scooters that do not raise themselves so high are easier to put on the center stand.

My MC-54-250B sits the rear tire about 1 1/2 - 2 inches off the ground too. I was wondering something, did all of these come with the 13 inch wheels? I ask because at the local power sports shop, they have a bike like mine, but it's on 12's not 13's When that one is on the center stand, it is easily 2-3 inches off the ground. Enough clearance between two rw and ground my son's steel toe boot will fit under the tire up to the laces. I haven liked at the build tag yet, but the P.S. guy swears teh are stock for that bike. It's a MC-54-250B as well...just wondering. Nice job with that center stand!
