Yes it does STINK. I am pissed. I will never buy another JONWAY With the Honda Clone Nor will I ever by anything from EVOSALES again total PIA. I bought my scooter from Evosales.com their warrantee is just about Worthless. But on the Bright side the only Warrantee that is on my scooter is DRIVE Train PARTS ONLY. so I guess I will get to learn how to Rebuild one of these motors.
I have no Idea why this motor is doing this. I have done everything to promote longevity of this motor. I have been very anal about changing the oil about every 500 miles since my breakin 100 and 300 mile changes. I have used nothing but Rotella T 15/40.
I have about 3000 miles on it right now.
I will tear it down tomorrow and take pictures as I go.

Keep us posted. I'm very curious to see what failed. Its a bummer for you but could be a learning experience for others with the vertical 250cc.

Nothing as of yet. But I have not gotten the damn thing apart. It is looking like I am going to have to take every single thing apart to get to the bottom end of the motor where the problem is. This meand I will have to pull the Cam out remove the chain, and pull the Valve assembly off then take the head off before I can pull the bottom of the case apart to find the real problem. I am thinking the bottom bearing on the Piston rod or the bottom of the piston rod broke off. There was alot of metal shavings in the Stator. I am kinda thinking it is going to end up being a pretty much Rebuild. I am not to happy about that. I am kind of expecting that if the Piston rod was hitting the Crank that the Crank will be bad also. If that is the Case then pretty much everything in the bottom end is going to have to be replaced.

There may not be any internal problems. Those mettle shaving are outside of the crank case and may be an indicator of the problem. I would look real close at what was causing those shavings. For example if the ignition pick up coil was hitting the flywheel it would cause a knocking noise and eventually the engine would quit.

Jh. You could very well be right but I did not see any signs of that on the flywheel. Plus while I was riding the knock went from a low knock to a Cachunk and at LOUD knocking. And when it Had the Variator cover off and started the motor the knocking sounded like it might be coming from inside the crank case on the side of variator. I will find out more when I get the whole thing taken apart.

Ok guys still need help. I got the motor taken apart. As you can see in this photo bigger metal pieces. What I need to know is there supose to be play from side to side on the rod where it is on the crank shaft? I have about 1 mm of play I still have to get the Damn Fly wheel off I just can not afford the tool right now so I am kinda screwed until I get that puller. May have a bearing right there that is bad but I can not find out until I get that flywheel off.

There is some sideways play in this bearing. Here's the spec's: mpsracing.net/helix-manual/11-01.htmlSide play service limit is .6mm and radial limit is .05mm. Page 11-3 shows how to measure.

I'll make you a hell of a deal on a whole scooter! I don't deliver to Wisconsin though. LOL
Good luck to you man. I learned how to replace the head in mine last year. You can do it! (especially with JR's Help. He's the master!)
