I replaced a battery with a Yuasa (made in Taiwan) and was told it is one of the best. Well that bat is bad now. Bought a new one (about $62) R440 here is SA. On advice from a dealer instead of putting the electrolite in and off i go, I put the new battery on trickle charge for 8 hours after putting the electrolite in. I am told this will ensure a better battery performance and life. What is your view on this procedure?

a year ago i replaced my battery. Now that one is also shot. I realized now that I replaced a 9amp with a 7amp and that is why it did not last. Back to a new 9amp and very happy.

Speedracer i would guess so it is always better to have the correct battery in terms of amperage. Keep the electricals happy.

The class type fuse showed continuity on the multimeter but once in the scoot would not allow current through, weird.
Back home now again but really missing my time there. A few more years and then I will join my daughter permanently in the Stated. Can't wait i have to say.

Statement: Changing the main fuse on the battery (Jonway 250) makes the bike run a little cooler, scoot is more responsive and the charging rate jumps from 13.36 to 14.55. True or false.
True. The fuse and connection was not very good. I changed the fuse with the types on cars ( the little square ones that you slide in) the charging rate improved which makes the fan run stronger and the spark is better now that the battery is fully charged. Oh and I can start the scoot now with head light and fan on, no problem. If you have similar problems start with the fuse first, it may just be your problem in the first place.

*luke* I am still here but leaving coming Wed evening and yes i am excited to ger back to summer and the scoot. I have seen a view scoots here in Fairfax. Should the TSA want to tinker with my lightbulbs I will duly request a female officer to do so. I was wandering what they will do should i say something like "did you enjoy that" after the body search but someone suggested i should just keep my mouth shut. The visit was great I saw a lot such as Washington's house, Arlington cemetary, the Rifle Asso of America and a scenic drive up the Shenandoah National Park a place a seriously want to drive again but with the scooter. Also been inside the White House, up the Pencil building, went into the Masonic Temple and saw the Caps kick the Canadians' arse. I thought the National Cathedral in Arlinton was spectacular. The American people are not the friendliest bunch I have ever met though. They seem to live past each other, no eye contact. That was a bit weird to me. Otherwise the clean streets and the respect for law and order is something i liked. God bless your country.

hahah*luke* i'm here just too much to do and see and no arthritis...yet. I love the way you guys are geared for winter with central heating etc. Back home whilst the winter is not that bad, you grab the old fashioned heater and sit under a blanket (not n snuggie) and wait for summer, here i walk around the apartment with bare feet. Went to the Air n Space museum at Dulles airport Virginia and couldn't believe my eyes when i walked into the Enola Gay didn't even know the plane still exists. Hooters made me sick but Five Guys not too bad. Good to be here in the USA trying to get used to seeing cars approaching from da "wrong" side. My daughter refuses to let me drive and I was the one to teach her to drive back home a few years...damn kids. *luke* i believe the TSA will tiker with dem hogans going back. Arrived at 6am on Monday and was surprised to see only 3 TSA officials checking passports etc of an entire plane load of people. That took a while. Only asked me the purpose of my visit and stamped my passport and that was it. Today want to see the Fire arm museum here in Fairfax I believe guns belonging to Napoleon and Buffalo Bill are to be seen. The other novelty is to see the reactions of people like shop assistants when they hear my SA accent especially when i speak my mother tongue which is Afrikaans to my daughter. One guy at Starbucks said 'you from SA" and i was surprised. I can see why you guys park the scooter for winter thats for sure.

Alright I'm convinced and i will buy some longjohns and put my scooter winter jacket into my travel bag. Here in Johannesburg South Africa it snows once in every 16 years or so and if it snows on my trip i'll probably go out and play in the stuff. What is a "snuggies"?
In winter in SA we like to drink Old Brown Sherrie, a variation of sherrie. Any suggestions as to the best sherrie in the US?

I'm getting worried now. Recall my post "Coming to the US". Well its finally about to happen as i fly out this Sunday evening 11 am your time 6pm here. Going to Arlington VA and have been warned to experience cold like i have never experienced before. But even the weather here in Johannesburg South Africa where its supposed to be summer, is slightly abnormal with coolish mornings and unseasonal winds. Perhaps All Gore was right, remember global warming means warmer some places but colder at others.

dugglebogey I used a vicegrip but I suppose any big pliers (strong formarm muscles needed though) will do.
