This thread was very informative. I'm having a situation with my Jonway (244) where the radio would temporary go off as soon as I put the indicator on when on idle but all ok when i ref it up. With the indicator on the head lights also seem to go a little dull as the indc flashes. I have a new battery in. Any advice would be welcome. Also just please repeat those voltage readings at idle, 5000 rpm, light on/off and fan on/off.

Would that extra 4" have any effect on the gas consumption?

Hello "vuilbaard" (dirtbeard in Afrikaans) where in SA are you from? The fact that the heat gauge is presumably on cold then goes to red after a couple of minutes, indicates that there is water in the system but as Cruiser said maybe not enough. How old is your Jonway (km's done) Something that puzzles me, before you replaced the thermo switch, did the engine overheated as well?

Hot water poured over it, like a jam jar lid.

Bikers are amazing I think they share a common gene. Come to the toy run in Johannesburg SA every Nov where there are about 70000 bikes of all sizes and shapes. The riders and those in these pictures are the same type of people, they wear the same stuff and they look the same. Really amazing.

Try a spacer of sort and place it between the hot engine surface and the pipe.

It looks like the crank breather hose. It comes from the crank has a union with another breather coming out from the tapet cover then go down to the airbox.

Nice pics kiwiscoot looks like the Drakensberg in winter or the mountains in the Cape don't you think? With winter in full swing in the southern hemisphere its nippy on the bike in the morning. Here in Johannesburg we have seen 3 degree C but the minusses are coming, no snow in Johannesburg though so scooting through the dry winter is normal. I ride just 9 km (5 miles) to work so just before the cold gets under the breaker I'm at work.

I always thought the YY250T was just the cfmoto style Jonway 250. Anyway I am very happy with mine.

I have a 118 main in my Jonway (40 pilot) and a gas analiser put it spot on, not rich not lean and the bike goes great. Remember a little rich at top is better than a little lean. Consider a 118 again. The correct main jet is the one that allows the engine to give max power. If you have time to mess around put the 116 in, find a little hill and time yourself up (say between two markers). Then put the 118 in and race up the hill again just like before. If your time is better then the 118 is better, if slower then reduce the jet to a smaller one. Its all trail and error.

Well as i said my Jonway was that way since new. I think it it wired that way. Only globe that went is one of the parklights (those two on either side of the mains) New battery needed a month ago after the old President battery packed up. Starts up even before I have time to remove my finger from the start button.

Strange my Jonway yy250t will let you have any light on as long as the ignition is turned on. I prefer it that way as I can switch headlights off when I start up.
