Hello all I recently purchased a 2008 vog 260 used from an individual. It is in really great shape with only 1200 miles on it when I got it. My question is to anyone who knows anything about this scooter to offer anything you know about them. I am just wanting to learn everything I can obout this scooter. I was already kind of reading and it seems this scooter is the clone of the suzuki burgman 400. is this correct? any info is welcome. thanks.

thetucks, hello, I have the VOG260, the 2007 original model with the Mono shock rear end. I have only had a minor problem or two, like loose connectors and a bad tail light socket. It has over 5K miles and has never needed the valves adjusted. Don't be surprised when you hear a clunk sound in the front as you hit a bump. This cannot be fixed so get used to it. I have this scooter and the MC250-54B. They feel very different when you ride. I'm big 260 lbs 6 ft and I feel better on the taller VOG. I have opened mine up several times, it's not fun, so be sure it has had the PDI by the previous owner. Enjoy the ride, ADIOS

thanks widehide... it apears the previous owner had a problem with the rear tail light housing also because it is busted off and the wires are sottered to the terminals. I have the dual shocks on the rear. I dont hear any clunk noises when I hit bumps from the front end. and im not sure if the previous owner did the pdi or not.
since ive had it i drained the coolant and replaced, drained the oil and gear oil and replaced. changed the fuel filter on the top by the carb. for some reason the one that was installed was in backwards??. I put the new one in the right way. I then checked the valve gaps. they were both completly closed. The scooter ran great except for a little hicup if I reved it with sharp revs at idle. So I adjusted the valves to .003 on the intake and .005 on the exhaust. Wow it runs so much better now. I also adjusted the carb. It would idle at 2500 when cold the idle at 2000 when warm. I changed the plug and noticed it was a bit rich. so I adjusted the carb and it idles at 2000 cold and 1500-1800 when warm. also changed the plug.
I was going to do the complete pdi but I was having trouble getting all the panels off so I stopped for now and will continue when I figure out how to remove all the panel correctly.
Whats your top speed. My speedo is way off im going to gps my speed. I bought a bicycle speedo i plan on install soon. Thanks for the reply.

widehide...all i have to say is "you the man". this is exactly what ive been looking for. thanks for all the pic too. they really help. i did take the seat bucket off already and did run into those 2 pain in the rear screws. I never did get them back in after 2 hours of trying. finally i said fine.... and went and got 2 self tapping screws and put it through the bracket just under the hole. good as before.
one more thing.... the fuel filter from the bottom of the tank to the fuel pump.... is this the first of 2 fuel filters? i changed the one on top going to the carb. it was backwards infact. was there any reason why this was backwards? i put the new one in going tward the carb. thanks for all the help. Im waiting on the weather to get bad before I start the complete tear down to do the full pdi. its starting to get chilly out but im going to drive my scoot until I cant stand the cold anymore. Im looking for a taller and wider windshield for my scoot. any reccomendations?

jrran, thetucks, thanks, those pictures are the ones I took a couple of years ago when you were helping me find my intermittent start and not start problem. I'm glad I took them and they can be of use. We found 2 loose connectors and the brake light socket crumbled and shorting out sometimes, oh and the boot, carb to intake hose loose. No problems since then. thetucks, the bike computer I use is the Sigma BC506. You might want to get one with more features, it works great. I tried the Schwinn first and it only worked up to 50 mph, so steer clear. The setting you will need to calculate, that was too long ago, i don't remember. Measure the distance around your tire and follow the directions. You will have to mount the sensor and magnet wherever it makes you happy, mine does not look very good. Adios.

well darn...i had already installed that bike speedo before you mentioned that the schwin only goes up to 50mph. So went for a test ride just now to make sure mine was the same and sure enough. it was. now I have to take this one back and get the correct one. thanks for the heads up.
