Hey guys, Happy Thanksgiving!
I have limited, very limited, funds right now to put into my scoot. I was looking into, roller weights, clutch springs, and torque Springs. I was reading on monstergy6 that the torque springs = "The stiffer the spring, the quicker the throttle response will be at take off." I was also looking at the Velocita Performance Clutch. Non of this is very expensive, but like I said, I have limited funds for the moment.
What I really want is some more torque and acceleration at the take off for now. My scoot is only about a month old, so I am not worried about top end as I am not driving it at top speed anyhow until the break in period is over. It has about 220 miles on it now.
What would you guys recommend for what I am looking to do with little money?
Thanks, and again, Happy Thanksgiving!

22, I would only do one thing in your place.. I would open the variator, clean out the nasty grease, weigh the rollers, and order a new set a 2-4 grams lighter.. You won't believe the difference.. About $15.00 invested and what a difference.. I haven't dealt with monstergy6, but know for a fact these people are great.. here is a link for the rollers, but they have every part you could ever need, and in fact I think they are still running a sale if you use "perf15" in the discount code.. If you call them they will help you out.. be sure to select USPS shipping, (its much cheaper and faster).. www.partsforscooters.com/169-146_GY6_Roller_Weights?sc=11&category=74091Good luck, and happy Thanksgiving..Dave

Second the lighter rollers or sliders, the ramp facing won't push as far into the drive plate so you'll be in "a lower gear"...think ten speed bike. The stiffer torque spring keeps the clutch in the larger diameters.....again the ten speed; but you'll get what you want out of the roller/sliders. I'd stay away from stiffer clutch springs, it makes the clutch engage at a higher RPM. It's great for hole shots but for everyday riding it's a bit of a PITA. When I redo my Bashan I'm going back to a stock clutch. Rich

Daver and Bashan,
Thanks for the comments. They are of great help. They are really cheap too. I was reading that sliders give you that faster take off and top end as well. That with rollers you can lose top end while gaining lower end. Like I said, not too worried about top end while breaking it in but....Sliders seem like the best all around for what I think I am looking for, and budget minded as well. I know Alleyoop had some great words on the subject in another thread as well. I am looking around for the best deal. Will 150cc sliders work in a 50cc as long as they are for a GY6?

Great link, but I still go sliders. On most 50's you end up somewhere between 5 and 7 grams. I bought 6.5's on a suggestion from Enviro. He asked me how the scoot was performing and my rider weight, pointed me to Dr Pulley, and was right on. It was like riding a different scooter. My OEM rollers were 9grams! Top end up a few mph's and i can accelerate up most hills around here, for the entire climb. It's a lot hotter off the line at stop lights. Enough so that you can sometimes hear the car besides you mash their accelerator to correct the matter

Seems like I had missed a good bit o' info around! I have been reading a lot. For what I am looking to do, it seemed the best idea to go with a set of 5g slider weights. I ordered them from www.scootertronics.com/ mainly because they are not far from my NC home, but they had a good deal on the scooterninja slider weights. I know that the guys in the banner up top are good and I will most definitely be visiting them over good ol' cyber space for some parts in the future. Someone said look on Kidnme- it is a very informative site that has a lot of good information. Well, I'll wait, put the sliders on, and I will post again with a ride report afterwards! Thanks for the advice everyone.

All the above paid links ship cheaply and quickly. Heck one of them shipped a box full of parts to one member, so he could plug and play until he found out what was wrong, and only charged him for what he used, and the cost to ship the rest back. Try that with...well just about anyone else you might order from. I ordered from both Scrappy and Enviro, had their stuff anywhere from 48 hrs to just less than a week. I made the mistake of ordering the Dr. Pulley Sliders off of Ebay and waited 3 weeks for shipment. My disc air filter came from mainland china and beat the Ebay Sliders, by more than a full week!

ikabaud22 Didn't you just sell that 50cc and asking for help finding a 150 cc? If so why did you just order sliders from of all places scootertronics. They have the highest prices and take forever to ship.

Well, You guys are right. They did take forever to ship.

I don't think you could find that anywhere else-period. I should have checked the above links and don't worry, will order anything from them in the future for sure.
Speed,
Yeah, but I ordered them before I sold my 50cc and ordered the new bike. Wasn't going to make the transition quite yet, but everything fell into place. So yeah, they took forever to ship! And now I have to contact them and try to get a refund or a different set, unless someone else wants them for cheaper...
Can't go back and change who I ordered them from, but I can change who I do order things from in the future! I think it is great what the above stores do for scooterdoc people, and it's awesome their all a part of the site and post.
Thanks guys...

We have put together a great site to help you learn what you need and why and also how to install these performance parts. We specialize in the CVT. We ship priority 2-3 day mail and usually ship the same day. We have the best descriptions on the Internet and we stand behind what we sell because we design and build them and use all these parts ourselves and we show you what we get from them. We don't import Chinese crap! If you have any questions, you can call us directly and we'll even walk you through the process if you need. Check out www.KidNmeParts.com to see what we're talking about.

lol, I know I havent been here in quite a while but it seems odd you would say "We don't import Chinese crap!" when your trying to sell aftermarket parts to upgrade our "Chinese crap". Ok, now Ill go back to my closet...

ZUGGER! I was worried about you man, everything good? Hey, I've been going through the site little by little trying to clean things up. A lot of your images were gone and I had to delete some of your threads and posts. No offense meant, just trying to spruce things up. You certainly weren't the only one either so I didn't have you in my sights or anything. I hated to lose the infamous 250 in a 150 thread but there wasn't much left of it....again, no offense meant. I still got your 'sexy scoot" though, that's on my bucket so it ain't going anywhere. Well I hope you start posting again...we miss you . Rich

No offense taken. I'm in a apt plex so I only kept the Vlx. I don't really like riding it as much as a scoot. I got a flat and had to go to the stealership to get it fixed. It cost almost $100 for the tube and labor. They inspected it and charged me 48.00 and failed it because of leaking seals. The seals that didnt leak before I took it to them, and oh the front brakes have to be replaced because the fork oil leaked on the pads. lol. I told them to fix the tire n give me my bike back. So basically $144 to get a rear tire tube put in and a bike with a couple issues it didnt have when it went to the dealer. These are the reasons I never go to them but I didnt have a choice this time. I need the bike to get to work and cant change it out in the 19-25 degree weather we been having. Oh and this bike should have been paid off a couple yrs ago put I just found out the wife never sent them any payments. Urg. lol. She musta spent the money for it at the track too. So its just a matter of time before I go out for work and its gone. I'm trying to hang onto it until I get my tax return and then Im gonna get me a new scoot and let them come and get the vlx. So you will see me around a bit. I even put this site back up on the Fav's bar. ;o)

Ok, now Ill go back to my closet... I'm glad you asked and sorry I didn't see this earlier. What I meant was, China has 2-3 tiers of quality depending on what you spend. Since we design and mfg a lot of our own parts, we wouldn't sub it out to a factory that makes poor quality parts. Before ordering large numbers of anything, we test them here ourselves then we get a few into the hands of our MBRA members and even a few here on Scootdoc have tested some parts for us. Only then will we put them up for sale.
