With the ride-ability concerns gone and upgrades planned, its time to start a new build thread for the Matrix.
Latest updates: New tires and new exhaust.
The new exhaust looks great... but could wake the dead. I'm going to try to build an insert to tame it down.
Pictures to come.

The pipe is growing on me. Its still louder than I'd like, but its tolerable... not to mention I got a few compliments on it this weekend at Scooters 4 Hooters. ;D
My big debate right now.... do I take the Matrix off the road?
I want to do a complete teardown, rewire and repair on this bike. I want to do the repainting that I've been putting off.
The weather is now reaching the point where its too hot to ride, so I think its time to go back to my to do list:
- Repair/Replace Handlebar fairing and add a windshield. - Replace front fender. I was going to repair mine, but I see generic replacements on eBay that should work for pretty cheap. - Repair rear caliper, again. Its rattling again.... - Some other miscellaneous body work. - Repaint! - Refoam the seat. - Rewiring lighting so everything works again! (I haven't had a working tag light for along time...)
I've also got some ideas on making a custom panel to replace the rear fender and hold the license plate and rear turn signals.

Who makes the exhaust and where did you get it.Looks nice. Got it off ebay from Zoom Zoom Parts (ebay id m.j.zee). Don't know who actually made it, if I recall it came in a plain white box with no packaging. I had to tweak a few things to get it to work with my scoot's swing arm.

what does the tip of your old pipe look like? wanna sell it? I'll take some pics, and let you make an offer.... but, I don't think its really worth anything. Some of the baffles rusted loose and the whole thing rattled. That's the main reason I replaced it. Plus it just looked like crap without its carbon fiber look heat shield. The only reason I've even held on it this long is the thought of cutting off the header pipe to maybe try the B&S muffler mod.

Some updates: - Muffler is still too loud, I think I'm going to replace it. I have about 1,000 miles with the muffler on it, so I know I don't like it and I'm not getting used to it. So, I'm looking at options. I may just try a stock style can muffler if I can get one cheap. - After some creative repairs the handlebar plastics, I put them back on. Which also means I now have my factory gauge cluster installed again, which means I have a tach again! I able to repair the missing bits of ABS plastic using some "ABS goo." I didn't take any pictures during the process, but I essentially took liquid ABS plastic and molded into the shape I needed and let it cure, then trimmed it as needed. To be honest, it looks like crap, but its on the underside of the handlebars. Then, when I was done, I painted the back piece with black Krylon Fusion, to cover up the streaking/bleaching from my brake fluid incident. - I still need a front fender. I'm thinking I may try to use the ABS Goo to fix the damaged one I have. - With over 4000 miles on the "new" motor, I can consistently ride at 55mph at about 6500rpm. That's WOT, so I need to play with the CVT to get my peak RPMs up to 7500. Some current pics:

If you can find parts for this bike, let me know. Honestly, I'd love a complete set of new plastics, but they just don't exist. I may just buy a generic front fender, but the rest of the body is unique.

I'm going to resume my work on the Matrix soon. I keep getting a Saturday to work on it, then I take two weeks off. I'm tired of seeing it just sitting in my garage, and I'm sure my wife is, too. Things to do: - Check timing
- Experiment with exhaust. I've got a few ideas to play with before I go spend money on a new muffler.
- Body Work: repair broken tabs, scrapes and new paint
- Install new tranny gears
I ordered a set of gears with the store credit I received from returning the side mount airbox that didn't work out.
