out of gas

I ran out of gas today. This is the first time it has ever happened to me. I always fill up when the tank gets to 1/4 full. well I found out the gas gauge is not accurate. I was only three blocks from my destination. So I decided to just push it . Now let me tell you pushing a two wheel scooter is hard enough. There is not a good way to push a trike. They are heavier than a two wheel and the rear tire kept running over the back of my leg. If it was any bigger I would have just locked it up and left it. Now I'm out of gas. Don't think I'm going to let this happen again. Got me a spare gas can now. And now I know where empty is on the gauge and how many miles it gets to a tank full.

I always keep a gallon of gas in the top trunk of all my rides. Gas guages and speedometers are very inaccurate on scoots and trikes in general.

tell me about it. I put 2 and a half gallons in my new bike and the gauge only reads 1/8th of a tank. (hopefully, this will be fixed this week)

Yes, those Floats are nowhere adjusted to be half way accurate. My Ice Bear has almost a 5 gallon tank and it would register EMPTY when I had 3 gallons left. Took the Float out and Bent the the wire down and now when the needle gets into the RED square at the bottom of the gauge I know I have Approx 1 1/2 gallons left enough for about 70miles or so. But before I jump on it, JUST TO MAKE sure I have a stick with markings on it for every gallon and I drop it down the tank and see the gas makerings on the stick. If it shows two gallons or less I just pour some more in. When I am riding I do not want to be stopping off at a gas station to fill it up. Alleyoop

I use the one gallon gas cans from WallowWorld. Cost about $7.00, have a nozzle control valve for pouring, and fit in any tip trunk that I have. If i am going to be doing a lot o riding on my TGB Del. 150 I carry 2 of them. If you run out a gallon will get you another 85 miles or more and that will get you home or to a service station.

once the gauge drops below 1/2 I start to look for gas .
my biggest concern is dirt in the bottom of the tank to foul the lines , filter or jets

Walmart carries a 1 gallon gas container also for around 6 something. It has the same kind of cap and nozzle mentioned above.
I think its a good idea, I just hate to think of having it under the seat. In the trunk in the back might be bad too because of how hot it gets in the summer time. So where is a safe place to store a one gallon container of gas?

Mac, Wal Mart and WallowWorld are the same outfit.!!! If they ever close I will go naked and starve to death! WallowWorld is just my nickname for Wal Mart. 8^) I carry mine in my top trunks with no problem from the heat. Last summer was a scorcher down here and I had no problems. When I am going to be running my TGB Delivery 150 I carry two containers. The Delivery has a 39 gallon box originally designed for Pizza delivery but the idea has cought on for city deliveries of a lot of stuff. I am not sure if I would carry one under the seat. will have to experiment with that idea.

You poor SLOBS(HEHE), I don't need to carry extra gas my IB has almost a 5 gallon tank. As a matter of fact that was one reason why I got that model also for the thicker seat. If I just get 50mpg that is 250 miles on one tank full. Alleyoop
