Last year, I picked this bike up for $25! it's a 2003 Midwest Cosmo. Now the following issues exist: (Other than a beat-up body!) - NO KEYS! The gas cap needs the key... ...as does the under-seat storage and ignition. At least the steering lock isn't on. Any assistance is welcome! Mac

Have you chatted with a locksmith ? They may be able to get a master key made, if you can remove and give them the entire ignition key mechanism . That would mean taking the front cowling off your scooter to get at it. Bill C.

A locksmith should be able to make a key if they have the right key blank. If the lock has a code stamped on it they may be able to cut a key by code. If not they may make a key by hand. It may cost $25- $50 depending on method they use. And of course this will vary from shop to shop.

Funny how it is IDENTICAL to your GES 50...of course the plastic lens over the gauge cluster, headlight, turn-signals...and tail-lights on yous is nice and clear- mine is all yellowed & opaque. Looks like one of those plastic headlight restoration kits is on the shopping list as well! I have emailed Midwest Scooters to se if they might be of help.

I have seen many lock sets on Ebay very reasonable. You can open the seat by using a long screwdriver from underneath. Just look up in there and you will see where the cable from the lock operates the latch. Push on the cable itself not the sheath and it will pop right open. The gas cap is a little more difficult but nothing a large channel lock pliers won't take care of.

The arm for the kickstart looks like it is installed backwards ...it must be forward facing...to change it you need to remove the bolt completely or you won't get the arm off the shaft...

and that actually seems like the right direction. other way round would put it in the plastic

I'm in and I'll be posting it under the BLUE BOMB, with pics! Got the gas-cap off with channel-locks and the fuel tank is almost as bad as the bike! Now you get to see what us unemployed guys do to keep us from going any crazier!

Not all kick start arms face forward. The Lance I bought not only faces and kicks rear ward but somebody even put it up like a bike so kick starting with it is easier.
