I bought a KidNme performance pulley that almost destroyed my CVT. I did catch it in time and after 1 and half cans of brake cleaner and it turned my clutch bell purple like a vikings fan all Tom had to say that my torque spring might be installed incorrectly. mmmmmm. I don't think so. I have included a pic below to show the amount of grease this thing threw inside my CVT.

Take a picture of the Performance Clutch or whatever you bought from them. Torque Spring does he mean the Contra Spring that closes the Clutch Pulleys? If so they only go in one way. Alleyoop

It was the rear pulley that I bought from them. The clutch is still stock. I do have another clutch but wanted to test the pulley before changing out the clutch. Another pic is not going to happen til I get a new camera. Knocked mine off of my bench and when it hit the cement, it went KABLOOIE. The wifes camera too...ouch. Haven't told her yet. I think I will wait til I get a new camera then tell her. HEHE
It was the main spring or the torgue spring tom was talking about. He thought maybe that I did not get it seated properly.

Well the pulleys do not come with grease and either does the Spring. The only parts that have a little grease is in the three Clutch Arms, but not a lot just enough to keep them lubed so they can swing out smoothly. You didn't add grease did you, if you did you may have added to much and threw the stuff out. Alleyoop

To set the record straight, I responded promptly to your email about the issue but you never responded back so I don't understand why you would ask people who may have never seen our pulley before.
I never said you installed the spring wrong, I simply asked if you had the cup all the way down on the pulley. There's only grease on the needle bearing part of the pulley but it is covered by the spring cup so asking if the cup was seated properly was the appropriate question to ask you. We have never had 1 single complaint on our pulley so I was simply trying to get more info from you. We just don't replace parts because someone "says" it didn't work. We need more info, especially when it's the 1st issue out of over 200 pulleys! All I got was the same pic you posted here. Doesn't tell me much! I run all the same parts in my own machines. Every one of them! We wouldn't sell it if it didn't work as advertised. Could it be the "1" in 200 that was put together wrong? Sure it could! Did posting that I blew you off when I didn't, help your cause, NOPE!

No Tom, I did not mean to say you blew me off. It was just funny that before this the CVT was clean and after a short trip when this was installed, this happened. Curious I must say as nothing else was changed. As there seems to be some confusion and I seem to have upset Tom, I will clarify by posting below a cut and paste of the email he sent me. Yes, Tom was trying to be helpful and I should apologize as my first post in this thread was maybe me venting. The Email from Tom...
Hey Michael,
We haven't seen this problem before but there's always a first time for everything. The pulley does have a good bit of grease in there from the factory but it shouldn't spray all over like that because the bottom cup is supposed to cover it.
Is it possible the bottom torque spring cup didn't seat all the way down onto the pulley? Maybe the clutch was slipping enough that it heated up the grease in the the pulley and the thinner grease leaked out or it could be that the grease flung out first for some reason, causing the clutch to slip and heat up. Check the bearings inside the pulley to see if any are missing or boogered up.
For your Bell, check it while it's running on your buggy and see if it wobbles. If it does, you will need a new bell. If it doesn't wobble, you'll be fine.
I would clean it all up in there, clean off your clutch real good, inspect the pulley since that was the new component and the most likely suspect at this point. If nothing looks out of the ordinary, make sure ALL the grease is off all the surfaces it shouldn't be on and slap it all back together and give her another try but be gentle for the first few miles just to be sure everything is breaking into each other OK. Leave your CVT cover off for this so you know if there's a problem sooner.

IMO, this was a fluke. I want to apologize again to TOM. He helps all he can with his videos and yes you can call him and he will talk scooters and buggies all day. He is one of the good ones and I do regret posting what I did. I was just a little frustrated and should have just let it go another day til I calmed down. Will I buy from tom again, you bet if he will let me.

Thanks Damin, That message means alot to me. When I am wrong, I am wrong but sometimes I am the last to admit it. Yes, Tom is a stand up guy. I PM'ed JR on this thread to contact Tom to see if my apology was sufficient and if not to delete this thread. Like I said to JR, I usually do not go half cocked like this but I was frustrated at the time and should have gave myself a day to calm down.

On a lighter note Damin, I just realized you are in Muscoda. I used to go up there and repair the teller machine in the bank there. Small world. Maybe we can get together and arrange a scooter rally in the area.

That would be sweet. My Dad and I do what we call Scoot Caching. Basically Geocaching on Scooters. Our way of doing an Scooter rally with just 2 scooters. Gets us out to see lots of back roads we would not normally see otherwise.
