anyone know why my cooling fan would run continuously? temp guage is normal reading, and fan doesn't come on right away, but when it does after a few miles, it never cycles on and off like it use to. Help if you can - thanks in advance....

There are only a couple of things that would make it stick...Does the temp gauge fluctuate after it comes on???

I have the same problem now that it's warm/hot here in Phoenix. During the cooler months my fan would shut off as I drove around, coming on at stop lights then going off as I cruised steady for awhile. But once the temperature started staying in the 80's and above my fan runs continually once the bike has come up to operating temperature no matter how many miles I go without stopping at a light. The air temperature is now too warm to cool the bike at constant running. This bike is the Roketa 54b 250, yy250t with the clone 244 engine, radiator is way back inside the bike by the engine, gas tank blocks airflow to the engine. Hopefully this info is helpful for your situation.

Guys - this is normal operation for the 244cc engine on these scooters if you live in warm/hot climate (Like Fresno, Phoenix, etc). Don't count on the fans cycling off, ever, during the warmer/hotter days especially if you're in steadily flowing traffic. That radiator is in a terrible spot and just plain doesn't get enough airflow.. it could also be a bit larger imo.
Rob, I'm suspecting that it's not cycling on/off now because it's warming up. During the winter mine actually will cycle on and off.. in a few more weeks, it won't (usually by now it won't, but we've had a longer than usual winter here in Fresno).
A few things People have done that have helped:
1) Change the fluid from a 50/50 mix to more of a 80/20 mix (80 water, 20 antifreeze), and add an addidive such as 'water wetter' or 'hyperlube.' I noticed a decent improvement after doing this one.
2) Adding a second radiator
3) Changing the radiator fan to one that produces the same or more CFM's, but pulls far fewer amps. This won't change the cooling (unless you increase CFM's), but it does put you in a situation where you won't need to worry about the constant fan operation draining your battery.

Yoster, Rob has a 257cc engine. What you say is true of all the 250cc class scoots, but Rob has owned this scoot for a couple of years with over 11000 miles on it and has noted that just recently his fan is always staying on. Apparently it used to cycle on and off under similar riding conditions, but something is changing or has changed to cause this situation. The scoot apparently isn't overheating and the charging system isn't having any problems, so it's something to keep an eye on and wait until the problem manifests itself in a more apparent manner or start troubleshooting if you're not that patient.

Help if you can - thanks in advance.... Sounds to me like the fan (temperature) switch is sticking on. You can check it with a voltmeter very easily. Good luck.
