Alley I jumped the terminals on my solenoid and nothing happened and did that yesterday evening ! Today Bashan ( Rich) had me take the black wire off the solenoid , connect my positive connector from my voltage meter and ground the negitve meter end . I pushed my start button as told and I had voltage breifly 1 second then nothing else when holding the start button down further. My kickstart's non available at this time. . . Oy ! Bill

The button is bad or the connections to it.. as long as you are holding it you should get a voltage...

update of sorts ; made contact with red cable to black on solenoid a few minutes ago just be sure . It started 2 times . I did the test a 3rd time and it was completely dead when I made contact again with the red cable (to the black ) . No power just click click Bill C.

At this point, it should be one of two things. The battery is too weak or the starter is defective.
Make sure the battery is fully charged and try again. If just a click occurs, the starter is suspect.

Hi Bill. Check the voltage across the battery with your meter. It has to be at least 12.6 volts. If not, you should charge it and then repeat the jumper test to see if the scoot wants to start.

I think his starter is toast and he should order a new solenoid at the same time. What do you guys think? Yo! Rich

I don't know at this point...the stator and the CDI have absolutely NOTHING to do with the starting... it is the DC battery circuits...loose connections, bad ground wires, bad switches...for a start... but I agree with Rich...

for the third time , CHECK THE ENGINE GROUND !!!!!!!!! if i'm correct his stator ground should be cooked about now , after jumping the solinoid . A bad engine ground will allow the starter solinoid to click and not turn the starter . A bad engine ground will give you a no spark condition . A loose engine ground will give strange systems . A bad engine ground will stop your battery from charging .
So I will say it again check the engine ground .

At this point, I would go with John's advice and make sure the grounds are good. If the problem isn't solved with this, then it looks like the starter is toast.

two bolts to pull the starter out and one wire , check the starter direct to the battery out of the scooter . toch the body of the starter to the - battery and the + to where the wire goes . See if it spins .

This afternoon I decided to review my situation again with the issues keeping my scoot from starting . My main conclusion after looking at the data I have is this: I am not getting any voltage into the main red wire for the starter solenoid to do its job. The solenoids doing its job by clicking as the starter button is pressed. However there is zero voltage coming thru the red cable for it to switch over to the black cable to start my engine. I need to figure out where that red wire goes to the front of my scooters wiring loom and see whats causing (what I think is) a short . I put my battery back in after having it on the charger all day. It read 13.10vDC . After 3 multi click attempts with the starter button it dropped the battery down by 1/10th of a volt on each attempt. It read 12.79vDc when I finished up for the day. Where does that redwire come from and if needed how do I rewire it if needed to get around this issue I have . Any input from the big scoot gurus on this would be greatlly appreciated !! Bill ;D
