Not sure whats going on . Sometimes I have spark then suddenly I don't when using starter . Engine is getting fuel . I replaced the sparkplug . It ran ok then suddenly as I got home I can't get it started . Engine turns over ok . CDI ? Coil ? I am trying to relocate my original cdi and coil assy to see if it is one of those two .Any help would be much appreciated. Bill C.

Shalom72c, Here is a good trouble shooting guide for no spark. But First Check the BOOT CAP make sure it is Screwed onto the COIL wire nice and tight, then look inside the Cap and see if the Brass clips that make contact and grip the Plug are not broken. If all that is good then check the Wires on the Coil make sure they are nice and tight on the Coil connectors and the wireing is not correded or coming apart or loose. If that is all good then you should check if juice is coming from the CDI to the Coil if it is the COIL is bad if not then check if the CDI is getting Juice from the Trigger and stator. If it is then the CDI is bad. Or you can try unplugging the KILLSWITCH from the CDI, maybe the kill switch is messed up and grounding the CDI to not allow the juice to go to the coil. AND - check all wires going into the CDI. It could be as simple as a loose connection, particularly of the brown and yellow wire.

Bashan - GREAT diagnostic outline. You would have saved me a week last time I was down. I've got it bookmarked now for future reference.

Rich ,I ran the tests you suggested this evening. My final conclusion after running all the tests was that my CDI is definatly toast ! My killswitch checked out ok as did my ignition switch. I had plenty of voltage coming from the 2 wires coming from the stator as well ! Now I have to wait till payday to get my scoot back up. Bill C

Ok time to ask yet another d@$$ question. If the stator was going bad, would it keep the battery from properly charging ?(a/e not enough voltage being produced by the stator assy that goes to the voltage regulator to keep the battery charged while running )?Especially at night ? Bill

No...if you battery is going down over night then it is a draw on the system from an alarm or something. Could be a transient short somewhere. I have seen this happen.. when the dew falls at night the wires short.. in the morning the dry up and the short goes away... Attachments:

I just re-ran the stator wire tests . The dark black-red was only putting out 31v AC . the redwhite(blue white?) wasn't putting anything out voltagewise in AC . Final conclusion , dead Stator ? Bill C.
