sorry, i'm Pro-life...i hate anything that can harm a person like, cigarette, alcohol, knives, especially guns.,,,oh and chewing gums too. i still believe that love begets love.....if you show love to a person,he'll love you back.... 70% of death in the world is caused by guns...if a person gets mad and he owns a gun, his first reaction is to pull out the gun and shoot,,,but if that person doesn't own a gun,he can't kill anybody even if he is very very angry...and the issue of "self defense" is a classic alibi and escape goat...i don't buy it... aaahhh, if we only have a gunless society, this world's going to be a safe place to live. ha ha,LOL,and the capital letters reminds me of earthman,,,where is that fellow? haven't heard from him lately, is he still in Avalon? yeah bong, you can copy paste my speech..

I'm 100% opposed to your 70% hypothesis...
I propose that it become mandatory that everyone carry a gun. Sure, it'll be messy for the first 6 months or so...but by then everyone that needs to be shot, will be shot.
Ever see the HBO series "Deadwood"? Ever wonder why everyone was so civil?
Just saying....

Why ask Why

I agree cookees. An armed society is a polite society. And by the way Luke, I've always had guns around. Gotten mad many times and never once pulled one out and shot anyone. It usually boils down to the value one places on human life. Those that don't value it will always find an implement to kill with. Even their bare hands.

I hope I didnt sound accusatory. That truly wasn't my intention. No need to explain yourself, you're a kind and decent man just expressing your thoughts, no offense taken.
Those of us who frequent it and know each other tend to stop thinking of the site as a "information" site and we think of it as a "social site". In reality, it is both. Very well said, I started this forum to be mostly tech oriented. As with most things involving human interaction it took on a life of it's own and has become a great meeting place for some very nice folks; I wouldn't have it any other way now.
What about all the Guests doing there research that will never join? Yep, that frosts me. I think that comes back to the original theme of this thread "why ask why". Indeed, that's the point, if people want to come in, snag whatever tech they need, and bolt, then that's their way of doing things; what goes around comes around. My responses in red earlier in the thread weren't meant to be mean spirited, just hyperbolic examples of the nettlesome reactions we all feel when being snubbed, and that's what it is folks, being snubbed.
umm.. I got this gun.....and I was wondering... Anybody that knows Cookees realizes what a sweet, genteel person he is. Anybody that would ever think that his comment was more than just a silly goof is so far off base they are exiting our galactic cluster at this very moment. Same with Bong, I don't think he'd hurt a fly. When did we as a society get so ridiculously uptight and politically correct that we have to measure and evaluate every little thing we say for the nuance that might inadvertently ruffle someone's feathers. Maybe turn off those stupid 24/7 talking heads cable 'discussion" shows. Everybody needs to lighten up and start having a little more fun.
..well let's ask speedracer what's his purpose for posting this thread.....is it to start a b--tching session? No, I don't think so, he was commenting on people joining, taking what they want, and then see ya' later without a howdy do; it was just a mini rant. However, bitching sessions are allowed on this forum too as long as they don't get out of hand; that's just part of human expression. The guy that doesn't bitch once in a while is in a monastary in Tibet and probably wishes he could. No offense master *Luke*, very good point.
BTW who authored the thread "anyone got a message from jr" ?? that one got really out of hand.... Yes it did get out of hand. It was supposed to be for folks to vent their feelings about a particular subject and it slewed off course into a bunch of loosely related topics. However, the author of the thread is not to be faulted, he was simply trying to make sense of a very off the wall, out of nowhere, PM/e-mail. I can't blame the guy one bit.
So look what happened here, this thread "why ask why" started with three words and took more twists and turns than the Dragon's Tail. That's the nature of human interaction and we should not be critical or surprised at the evolution of discourse. How many conversations do you have in your everyday life that start and end on the same topic? Precious few I bet. Threads on forums will evolve like conversations, hell, they ARE conversations (oops, I used caps ). So the point of this is try to keep a thread on it's original course.....unlike this one (boo to the tech theives! ). If it does stray a little, hey, we're all pals, cut a little slack. Rich

I disagree about casual surfers running when they see a thread like this. So often people don't realize they should post a final comment stating that yes it worked thanks consider this thread closed now thanks. so it is good that there is only one of these threads, as long as it is kept in a friendly tone.
SO newbies please bookmark this site and when your question is answered and you have a final result please state so , that way we know what tip you choose and if it worked or not.

i quote----> "in the past, I've seen these types of venting threads turn into a b_tching session."...well let's ask speedracer what's his purpose for posting this thread.....is it to start a b--tching session? again? or something else?? whatever his intention is,i'm sure it must be good...or i want to think it's good. ;D BTW who authored the thread "anyone got a message from jr" ?? that one got really out of hand.... i forgot who authored that thread,,( ) anybody know?...ahh! anyway, past is past....i don't wanna worry about it at this point in time, tomorrow is saturday, need to ride at least 200miles to satisfy my scooter addiction...... My only reason to starting this tread was to remind all members if they seek sone sort of advise to be kind enough to let us know if it worked or not. If a certain fix works that great for everyone. I'm not b******g about anyone or trying to start a tread which gets everyone all mad. Luke I am the one who started the JR tread. Made a mistake and admitted to it.

I answered Luke's question first, but how could my original post scare anyone off from joining? If anything we all want positive feedback to questions asked. Isn't this a give and take forum? Or is it meant to be I'll ask a question and if it works see you later forum?
LOL Cookies I sure did watch Deadwood. I didn't see too much civil law and order in Deadwood.

How about this. Many people just read the posts without signing on. They absorb the information in stealth and nobody knows. Does this still bother you? I did for many weeks before I joined. I'm sorry Luke but I have to disagree with you on the gun thing. I'm pro- second amendment. I am going to leave it at that. When I first got a scooter I didn't know much about them. Thanks to all the wise and information generous people of this forum and others I will not mention I learned a great deal. Thank You All.

Royldoc, who cares if someone comes on the forum and sees an answer to their question and leaves and says nothing? That's what Google does and it's apart of everyone doing free research. No harm no foul. You did join and you donate as well. I'm sure you are thankful if you need a part and someone gives you a link to where they sell it or gives you advise on an issue.
All it is is common courtesy. I grew up in the thank you years and have taught my kids the same way.
