I was looking at my gas line from the current petcock to the carb and noticed that it kinda humps over the carb to get to its destination and I'd rather have it run straight down hill and if i put it to the side of the carb it does and will be even more of a straight shot if i take about 1 " of the line out ( which i will when i remove the petcock and put the other new hose in ) However when its running to the side of the carb and not over it, I can't reach the switch to turn it off from in my trunk ( from that little trap door ) so... I'm thinking of drilling a hole off to the side in the trunk just for the switch. Glad I bought that drill

Can you make the Trap Door bigger, also that way you can get at more stuff easier as well. crap you can cut out a big opening and then just get a piece of hard plastic or thin piece of wood and lay it over inside to carry stuff and you would not have to mess up the side of your scoot. Alleyoop

That sounds like a great idea but I don't have a sawzall or something that would allow me to do that If I get one someday I may go ahead and do that Luckily the latch on the scooter trunk has been working better lately ( allowing it to shut AND lock) so thats a plus. Still waiting for the gas tank to run out so I can get rid of the petcock. Hopefully soon, I want to get this all taken care of before I move in 10-13 days. So far the battery is holding its charge Iive been driving it a little longer lately) I'm moving to a place where I can run a lead out my door to charge it ON my scooter if I need to now. Yay! Damn someday this whole scooter may be like, custom built-looking

Great that you will be able to charge the battery much easier if you need to. But now that your driving further it appears it is enough to put some juice back into the battery. Cutting out a bigger access panel under the seat many do it so they do not have to take panels off to get to the carb and make adjustments or to take out the carb. Alleyoop

No pannels have to come off to mess w the carb, I just have to pop the seat off A bigger access panel under the seat would however keep me from having to take the seat off ya. I guess collecting new tools ( like a sawzall) is something I can do little by little.

Since it is just plastic, use a hacksaw blade. Some hacksaws use a d shaped frame, others hold the blade from the back and look like a butcher knife, use one of these and you can modify as needed. Or you can simply wrap some black tape around the first four inches of the blade to fashion a handle, also a small section of rubber hose can be slipped on and used for a handle.
Is that a GPS that I see in the second picture?

I don't have a hacksaw but good ideas there Up until about 3 mo ago my only tools were screwdriver and hammer, so the fact that I have a socket wrench set and a drill set is a big step for me so far Nope its like a wallet thingee that holds my ID on the outside and cards/registration/stuff on the inside that I have clipped to my keychain.

Thanks roketafan, yes they are all plugged in, that is the first thing they guys here had me check. The problem has been found, its lack of gas to carb due to petcok not working so im putting a manual fuel shut off line in

Oh my gosh the petCOCK is being such a duck right now. I had to inject fuel into the line 5 times just to make it 10 blocks to the grocery store and back. I squirt it in until the hose fills to the top. Usually I only have to squirt it in 1 to 3 times - max to run and errand WHEN the petcock is not sending fuel down the line. It just kept shutting off on me while driving and I had to pull over, knock it up w gas, then it would start right away and go. It needs to start sending some so I can get the tank empty, remove the pectock and throw it off a cliff. Hey it felt good when I did it to the spare keys I had to my old apartment w my ex when we broke up so it may feel good w the petcock too. Hmmm. Now to find a cliff around here If I didn't want to wait for the tank to become empty I could still remove it w gas in it, and clamp off the fuel and vac lines before pulling them away from the rest of the scooter and then just bring it to a sink and let the gas pour into a container as I unscrew the petcock right?

Yes you can probably get the tank off with the hose still on it. Just might have to finagle it around a little.

I got the tank out ( it was a lot easier getting it out the 2nd time around ) I brought it to the auto parts store and told them I needed a fuel hose to fit. They found me one and also a coupling to fit ( I brought a tiny piece of the smaller tube to make sure the coupling fit both ends) I got to the register and told him, I had to get one more thing and would be right back. 2 min later I'm back at the register but there is a different employee there. I told him the other guy helped fit and cut the hose. The new cashier informs me that this is a heater hose, not a hose for fuel. I asked if he had one that size for fuel, he checked and didn't. I asked if it could be used for fuel. He said yes but it will break down over time. I asked if he knew how much time. I said " should I replace the hose every 6 months? every year? He said he was not sure but to keep an eye on it. I can't really keep an eye on a hose under the seat, nor can I keep an eye on the inside of the hose to see how its doing. If I see black pieces in the fuel filter then I would have a clue that its breaking down. The hose is black rubber on the outside and on the inside it just looks like maybe inside the rubber its insulated or something. I decided to buy it, I need this scooter working. Do you guys have any idea if this is a bad idea or if it will work and if so do you think I should replace it every so often, and if so, how often? EDIT ( ADDITION ): *** The hose I bought ( meant for heater ) looks just like this www.ebay.com/itm/NEOPRENE-FUEL-LINE-1-4-ID-X-1-2-OD-395051-499742-430173-/310285306103?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item8e07c1e206 except the black part on the end doesn't look so " foam like " as in the pic, it looks more like regular rubber. I'm reading online that using a heater hose for fuel can make the hose sweat and soggy. I went on the website for the maker of the hose www.hbdthermoid.com/automotive.htm ( it is the first hose listed under heater hoses) and to the right it says it withstands " the abuse of corrosive solutions and additives " but how much abuse? a corrosive here and there or fuel flowing in it almost non stop? I am looking into ordering a gas line made w gas to replace it with but do you think this heater hose would be okay to use for even 3 months? Has anyone tried using a heater hose line for this? I'd like to get this fixed even just for now before I move. I could try to order a hose off ebay and wait up to a week for it to come in the mail. I just need it to come in time so I can drive the scooter to my new apartment in a week I'm def not ordering from outside the US or it will take forever to come. Perhaps I should order the new fuel hose, let my scooter set, wrapped up good / protected for rain and if the new hose has not come in the mail by the time its the day before I need to move then I could put this one in for now? Sigh. I was all set to try to get all this taken care of within a goal of 3 hrs flat this morning. ( well putting the line in, drilling a hole in the bottom of the trunk, doing my oil change and washing the scooter ) I guess I'll work on the oil change and other stuff for now

It will work for a short period of time. Cut the hose as short as you can so the fitting your using goes flush up against the nipple of the gas tank. I have used many different types of hose in a temporary situation. You need to find 1/2" fuel hose. It will be a tight fit, if it is you can dip the end in real hot water. This makes the hose soft and then you can screw it on the nipple of the tank. If the hose starts to deteriorate you will see it in the filter. A spare filter is a good idea.
