FANTASTIC!! At least the sucker will start now. If it is threatening to die when giveing gas I wonder if water got into the Tank. But if it revs up when giving gas and it does not want to scoot out I would take the CVT cover off and on the center stand give it gas and see how the belt is turning the Pulleys. The belt could be soaked and slipping like crazy. Alleyoop

Ya. Lets see if the battery will hold the damn charge now. I dont think water got into the tank just because I have that plastic seal thing I put over the gas tank cap to insure water stays out. I was thinking it could be the belt too. I'll take the CVT cover off and check out the belt tomorrow (provided no rain) Thanks

Good, that battery is suspect though, I don't think that sucker is holding a charge. I cannot believe it would not even give a grunk or a SPARK when you touched the Solenoid Terminals. I bet it has a couple cells that are bad and it just drains overnight. If it revs up and doesn't move then it has to be something with the CVT and the only thing I can think of is the belt slipping so bad and not grabbing. Or the only other thing would be the Weights are stuck and not moving out to squeeze the belt up the Variator plates. But you should be able to see that once you check it out. Good Luck hope it is only the belt or weights. Have a cup of java on me, but only one 1, I want you bright and spunky when you attack that DAMN scoot tomorrow(HEHE). Alleyoop

LOL. I was wondering... when I go to accelerate and it revs but doesn't move forward. If I were not to let off the gas, the scooter would turn off / die. Would a belt slipping, or that has become worn or even come off, cause the scooter to turn off if you don't let off the gas? It seems so weird to me that it wants to power down if I don't let off the gas.

Well that sounds more like the load on it is bogging it down. So yes it could be the Variator weights are stuck and holding the belt at a certain position only and not allowing it to move up which would put a lot of load on the motor until of course you let off the throttle and let the rpms come down. So how fast will it go before this happens? Alleyoop

It will go about an half an inch before this happens. It will barely move forward. I was kind of shocked it moved forward about 8 feet when I first was able to start it. Then it went right back to not even moving an inch forward like the original problem. Not rainning out but hot as hell. I'll check it out this evening around 5ish or so when its not blazing hot out.

My scooters stay outside in the rain uncovered and I've had switches go bad and the horn coil wouldn't work on one but that's it. The CDI is sealed. Get a volt/ohm meter and check the voltage at the battery it should be at least 12v, 12.6v is better. Check for fuel flow to the filter and if none check flow to the petcock valve, by diconnecting the hose while pinching it shut, open it then pinch it shut again and reconnect it. I think you may want to do a compression check by attaching a guage to the spark plug opening. I really don't suspect the spark plug unless it was mishandled during the testing, but if you attach it to a good ground, the screw with the wires going to it on the valve cover and it doesn't spark when kick staring then you may have to use substitution to diagnose the CDI/Plug Wire, Coil/Spark Plug system. Or you could move to Richmond, VA and you can have anything I've got.

p.s. do not test the spark plug wire with a volt/ohm meter it probably is 30k volts, way over range.

Thanks raford3. I always cover it, I just happened to forget to cover it when I was out to dinner after moving. I don't have any voltate meters but by the fact my battery cant hold a charge more than a couple days it tells me I need a new one soon. I have fuel flow I buit a custom fuel system from the tank w/ a manual shut off switch ( no more BS petcock issues ) I added clear fuel lines so I can see the flow. I checked for spark with current and also a new spark plug and I didn't see one. However after another charge up I got it started so maybe I just didnt see the sprk. Compression COULD be an issue ya. Im going to check the belt / weights later today and go for there. Thanks for your help / suggestions, its appreciated

It should kick start and run with a dead battery.

I know. It def should. I don't know why it wouldn't when I tried it. Weird. I got it starting now, just not accelerating.

The air filter is okay? The housing is firmly attached to the carb, no leaks? If everything looks okay try restricting the filter partly with a piece of paper. Just for laughs. Tell me what that does.

could be radford. yes air filter is good, and carb is tight. alley it is giving me crap turning over again. rearrr pause rearrr pause as i see the belt spin for a second then stop. Sooo... charging again.... My battery wouldnt suck so bad if i could drive this thing cuz it charges it up when i drive. New battery will be next when i can afford it until now i can easily hook it to the charger 6" out my front door, plugs right in, no lead cord and my new apartment comes with power included in the rent so thats good Should be done charging by 7pm, it seems to always take 2 hrs. Then I will check out how the belt spins and check to see if the tires spin. The belt looks new, no issue that i can see. It seems to be in place too.
