From one Vet to all others who have served and are still serving:
Thank you for your Service and Happy Veterans Day!
Tomorrow is Veterans Day a time to reflect and thank a Vet ( or 2 or 3 or 4) for his/her service to our Country. All too often, as we go about our busy day, we don't seem to take time to think of those that have given us the freedoms that we cherish in the U.S.
For those of you enjoying the Federal Holiday tomorrow, why not take a moment of your day and reflect why you have the day off. For those of you, like me, that have to work, still take that moment. Something as simple as just a few seconds out of your day to thank a Vet, will last in that person's mind longer than you think.
I am very proud of how this Country ( for the most part) supports those that are serving in harms way overseas. Unlike over 40 years ago, today's citizens may not agree with the "War" but, they do support the troops fighting it. Those serving during Vietnam were not so lucky. But, we still served to give them the right and freedom to express themselves in any way they saw fit.
God Bless all of our Veterans!!
Jim/ MSgt, USAF Retired Disabled Vet

Well said Jim, not every American agrees on what military action the leaders call on the service men and women to do. But as Americans, we must agree to support and honor those that put themselves in harm's way so that we can pursue the path that the founding fathers set forth, freedom and a right to voice our dissents without reprisals. Now if we can get the growing disparity between the upper and lower calsses straightened out we might be on our way to a more perfect union. Well, we are America, we'll sure give it a go. Rich

I was USN reserve getting out in 63. It kind of ticks me off the senior center here is closed tomorrow for lunch, yet has a free dinner for vets on monday instead of Veterans day. kind of like having fireworks three days before independence day (4th of july) and most holidays now celebrated on a monday which looses the meanings of them. Next step will be loosing Christmas as a national holiday. john

Today is Armistice Day, the official end of World War I. It was changed to Veterans Day by president Truman. Take a few moments and remember why we fought "The war to end all wars" and pray that we never have to again.

It was a long time ago and things are different now. I remember coming back to the states in 1970 and wondering if I was going to be welcomed or cussed. Im glad the country is behind all the vets now. Kinda feels good to answer the question so frequently asked now, Are You a Vet? I alwayts reply "You Becha"! Makes me feel even better when the person replys, "Thanks for what you did." I now say to all my brothers and sisters, Thanks.

I think thats a slap in our face. Don't take this the wrong way but all the firemen and police that I know have good jobs and all. Makes me wonder how many of these so called equivelants to what a Vet went and still goes through through could stomach it.

Overnight my mind went to two things. First was a bumper sticker " If you can read this , thank a teacher, if its printed in english, thank a vet". Second was no wonder we all get along we seems most of us were grunts rofl.

I was a very small part of a large operation that laid under sea sonar cable that was used to detect Russian submarines and other ships off the eastern coast of the USA during the cold war. john
