was just taking a look at the trike, and realized that one could easily get a very bad burn from the tail pipe. see how the pipe goes up in the back? if someone were sitting in the back and their right foot wasnt on the foot peg, it looks as if it would fall on the pipe?

I haven't posted for a while since we sold our scoots but when, I saw this I couldn't help but add a few words. Good work, man!! Just be sure to teach her proper braking habits. I started my wife out on a 250 similar to your 150 and she took to it like second nature. In 30 or so days she had her M endorsment and in a few months after that she was riding a Kawi Vulcan 500. In 8 months she put close to 14000mi on 2 scooters and the Vulcan so I moved her up to a Yam 650 Vstar. I'll add after getting past the jitters of her learning to ride, I learned, I couldn't have found a better riding buddy and enjoy watching her ride as much as she enjoys riding

...also she will be using the one we choose to take our 5 yr old to his preK every morning, as well as ride with me when i go somewhere. I believe Florida law requires the passenger be able to reach the foot pegs. Just something to keep in mind. I've tried to get my wife interested in riding. She's ridden on the back of mine a few times and even driven it herself around the cul-de-sac that we used to live on, but my Matrix just isn't suited well for a short rider. The seat is high and wide. Its great for my 6'-2" frame, but not so much for her at 5'-3". She has to actually slide off the seat to put her feet down on the ground at a stop. I think she'd enjoy it more with her own scoot, that actually fits her. I've debated getting her a scoot of her own, a retro of some kind, but it just hasn't been in our finances, yet.

where does it state the foot peg law? i might have to weld an extra set of pegs closer to his legs, maybe some that you can flip up when not in use.

I don't think I've ever seen it written, but it was something told to me by my instructor during the MSF course. I did a quick search for it and I found a reference here: www.flbikers.com/ridingdouble.aspxI know that not an official statement of the law, but its coming from somewhere. EDIT: Looks like the official statute is a little more vague, but I think it still says the same thing: (1) Any motorcycle carrying a passenger, other than in a sidecar or enclosed cab, shall be equipped with footrests for such passenger.Basically, you need footpegs that are appropriate for the passenger. Taken from here: www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=0300-0399/0316/Sections/0316.2095.html

thanks for letting me know i will have to get some ahead of time so when i get the new scoot i can go ahead and weld. im thinking about some footpegs like how they come on dirt bikes that have the spring in them and they fold up when theres no pressure on them. if anybody knows any other footpegs that fold maybe without a spring, let me know.

No problem. Just watching out for ya! I hate seeing people getting needless tickets. The pegs on my Matrix pivot. They can tuck into the body out of the way, or pivot out for use. I'm not really sure what sort of options are out there. I've seen a few guys make use of BMX pegs before as highway pegs for the driver. I'd be concerned about spring loaded pegs with a 5 year old, because if their little feet come off the pegs while riding the pegs may collapse and they'd had no where to brace themselves. I think I'd want something fixed, or at least lockable in an open/closed position.
