My scooter has a radio with two speakers. It is fine up to about 35 mph, then you have to turn up the volume. Has anyone wired a headphone jack to the speakers? Would you parrell the wires to the speakers, or do you lift wires to speakers, wire to a plug in jack of some kind then wire speakers to headphone and back to speakers? I have a helmet with speakers which I used alot when touring on a Kawasaki, now that I've downsized I would like to hear when at hyway speeds. Thanks

Radio shack carries converters that you can plug into the speaker lines. The route i would take is to go wireless that way your not constricted by wires. If i were to settle for a wired setup,i would make sure my radio had a spot to plug into. As for me, when i want music,i carry my i pod shuffle and wear head phones. I don't do that often because i like to hear what's going on around me.

I use an ipod nano with a bluetooth transmitter. my headphones are LG Bluthooth with track controls and they also connect to my LG Optimus Android phone which pauses the music when a call comes in. All that didnt come cheap though but it sure is user friendly. No wires only drawback is the ipod doesnt last long with the transmitter sucking power out of it.

You could plug transmitter into your scoot so it does not run out of power. Don't forget a power relay fuse and a power switch for it

Personally I don't think it's safe to wear headphones while scootering. Or driving. While it is possible to turn the volume down low enough to still hear traffic noises, the temptation to turn the music up loud and rock out to the tunes is too great. Too much is missed. Personally, I don't even listen to the radio in the car.

now i do like the idea of having helmet speakers with a mic on it so that way if you have your woman on the back, you can talk to each other without clunking helmets to get as close to ones ears as you can while your riding, not only does it look funny but its dangerous

Yeah, two way communication is safer and essential. Listening to tunes isn't.

I have to agree with you, Greg. Although i do like to listen to good rock music, loud, I don't when driving. It seems that the louder the music and the better the beat, the faster I drive! Never on a scoot, no matter what size. I need to hear and see what the heck is going on around me at all times so I have time to manuver away from idiots who are blasting their "rap" crap and not paying attention to where they are going!

exactly, in a car its ok to have it up a little, but on 2 wheels, you MUST be aware of your surroundings and not get caught in a tune...
