I just finished my 2oocc engine and I tried to crank to day and the engine is crashing. How many gaskets are usually needed to not hit the valves? As of right now I have 2 cork and 2 metal ones. Also I placed 2 cork gaskets between the case and the cylinder, and the other 2 between the head and the cylinder. Should I have placed the gaskets were I did or should they all go all between the head and cylinder? Complete noob trying to learn all he can about everything he can!!!

Before your ever hit the starter button rotate engine by hand to ensure no valves are not hit the piston

Please tell me you're not using cork between the head and cylinder. If you have the right cylinder and cam the piston shouldn't hit the valves. Stacking gaskets is not a viable option, you need to find out what the problem is.

4 gaskets between the head and the cylinder? Um, something is very not right.

If it is crashing.. check the cam chain.. you may not have it set top dead center...The GY6 is an interference engine like the old VWs...if the cam is out you can put a valve through the piston.. no problems...
Use top dead center on the piston only to set the cam chain... the flywheel marks are way off...actually the T is the firing point

I bought the BBk from Scrappy dogg and a new 63mm case from Monster GY6. I bought an A14 and new chain as well. The piston comes out of the cylinder by just a little bit which is hitting the head. I did not buy a new head with this setup though it is in my plans to do so.
The chain is straight and everything is installed correctly but the piston is the issue at this point.
I am also using a +4 crank

Can't use that +4mm crank...I suspect...did Scrappy tell you that jug would work with a stroker crank??
There should be no cork gaskets... they suck... and they leak in time...I think you are out one or two links on the cam chain. Count the links in the cam chain...it could be different from stock...the jug could also be machined short...
Did you set the chain with the piston physically locked at TDC?
Probably the simplest fix is a deeper head or machine the piston...kinda defeats the crank though...

No scrap did not tel me anything other than I may need base gaskets to get the clearance I needed for the piston.
The chain has 94 links in it and yes I locked the piston was locked at TDC.
Could they have sent me the wrong chain? I caught hell getting the gear pressed onto the crankshaft and I know I am not interested in tackling that project again.

get rid of the cork gaskets you need to sim up the cylinder so the piston is not coming out of it
