The reason youre seeing such high voltage at the light socket is the regulator you have isn't doing what it was intended to do and that is regulate your voltage. The right regulator would fix the problem, or just go back to the 6 pole stator and reg.

Thanks Silverfox. That's what I suspected. So, is it safe to assume the regulators I have are bad or do you think they will still work with the 6 pole stator? Thank you.

You should get 90 volts on the red/black all the others should be around 15volts

arent some stators for AC and some for DC? or are they all the same and its just the type of reg/rec that you have installed? i know that it has to go with how your lights and instruments are set up but was jw. and i would go with tvnacmans advice and just get an 11pole to save the trouble.

All stators are AC power.. some have a CDI that is DC and the current is converted to DC by the rectifier/regulator.

Going back to a 6 coil stator with the 4 pin regulator worked. Scooter runs great now! Thanks again for pointing out the floating ground on the 8 coil stator. That was definitely my problem. Ride safe!
