hey fellow docs, first off, yes i know its been a while since my recent activity on this forum but im sure everybody has been guilty of being busy. since im down with strep last few days ive come across time to check in with you crazy folk lol. now to the point. ive been doing alot of work on my honda cm250 ( pics n vids coming soon ) so i have, needless to say, neglected my roketa 150 a few weeks ago, a short break half way through the week, i was cruising around on my scoot. now ever since late last year, my scoot has developed a sort of slight vibration in the rear end which i had gave it a quick once over and everything checked out, and hell it still rode good, but like i was saying, that day a few weeks ago i was riding and the wobble just started getting worse and worse, not over time but very fast. i parked it and the next day i took it on a 10 ft ride to the stopsign, and on the way back into my yard the neighbor says " ya got a slight wobble there" so as soon as i pulled up into the yard, the scoot acted as if the cvt belt broke, it runs fine but giving it gas, she dont want to go anywhere. upon further inspection, the rear brake lever is locked up ( very hard to squeeze ) and i figured out that the belt did not break. looking at the right side of the rear wheel ( the opposite side of the cvt ) you can clearly see the final gear drive shaft spinning inside the rim, but its as if its not connecting to the rim at all to make it spin. since i have NOT had any time what so ever to look at it further or take it apart, im only guessing here. im sure it needs the two main drive gear shaft bearings and the final gear drive shafts themselves. after a while of searching on google, for the life of me i cannot locate any of the bearings or shafts and i also noticed that there is a special tool required for the removal and installation of the shaft bearings. cant find that either. ive worked on a bunch of different vehicles in my time but have never run into problems like this where the part is hard to find. so any input on this matter? anybody have to deal with this issue before? will i be required to buy a new rear wheel? thanks fellow docs and yall have a good night.

If the shaft is spinning but the wheel is not then I would think you`ve ripped the splines out on the wheel or from the shaft. Plus the back brake going hard is very suspect. Time to free up the brake and get the back wheel off before going any further.

Hey BC, good to see you bumping around here again. I agree with Robo, if the spindle is turning the gears should be intact. Also, when my wife's previous scooter had issues with the wheel wobbling it was the big retaining nut chronically coming loose, so check that too. No matter what I did, Loctite etc., that thing would not stay tight...go figure. It's one reason I retired that scooter. Rich

well it turns out that the final gear shaft was not the issue. the rim is broke and i will be needing a new one. the shaft is still in excellent condition so thats not a worry. heres a few pics. if anybody has a rear rim for sale, please let me know! on a much lighter note, this is how project 250c is going carb rebuild, new tires, new tubes, sand blasted the rims and did a rustolium black engine enamel treatment to the rims, light paint clear coat, new fluids, new custom upholstered seat, and more to come. took it on a 2 up 300 mile ride, from sebring to universal orlando to see the bands 3 doors down, and ZZ Top. rode over two hours and waited over 6 hours in line to get front row, the experience and pictures/videos were well worth it. the next day after the concert, we rode to the coast to jump in the big pond, the water at melbourne beach was pretty nice, not too cold, waves not too high. 150 miles 1 way. my body is still a little sore lol. Im very proud of the little 250, ran like a champ, and was great on gas. 10$ got us 170 miles before i had to switch it to reserve and hit a gas station.

Might talk to a good welder...anyone experienced in aluminum welding could fix that..probably stronger than it was cast...
