do what gysixxer did and bolt it on facing the other direction, send it out front. heres a link to his thread, scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=customscootsmodsetc&action=display&thread=5784its a few pics down but you will see it, quite clever he is. or you can just remove the bar that your under seat bucket bolts to. what i did was took my stock air box, cut the pipe from the box, and used a shop vac clamp ( the part that connects to the vacuum and then you connect the hose to the clamp ) and the shop vac clamp fit perfect into the stock air box tube. black rtv high temp silicone to ensure an air tight seal, and you can bolt an after market air filter to it as well. but for real just turning it around sounds way easier lol.

Alley is right, some pics would help. Depending on your scooter the carb may be hitting the engine mount, aka the bumper arm. Folks should be aware that if they put on a chrome performance manifold it may push the carb back into this part. Turning the carb around is an option, I've tried it. I found though that the bowl tended to run dry easily with vibration or cornering, it does get the carb out of that dirt pit though. A downdraft carb would be ideal on these things, I don't know why they don't make them. Rich

The carb isn't level..in the first picture..it needs to be. You will need to brace the carb with a bracket to the engine or repeated pulling of the throttle will loosen it ...or flex crack the intake black tube.. I think the throttle cable is going to be an issue as well.
Usually on reverses like that I have used Mikuni flat slide carbs ( TM 24s ) with throttle cable coming from the top...much easier to handle. If that filter is a UNI or a knock-off it should be oiled with sticky filter oil

I tried that very mod that's in your pic. There's something about the long connection between the carb and intake that messes with the mixture. There's a few things about the radiator hose. One, it will collapse with the vacuum if it's too long....size matters. Two, I think from what I've read, it causes turbulence in the air flow that disrupts the functioning of the carb. I'll be interested to see if you overcome this. Three, supposedly the material used to make radiator hoses degrades with the gasoline and can gunk up your engine. I didn't run mine like that long enough to see if that happens. Rich

Bashan is right that long run from carb to the intake is not good at all. You would better to get a Curbed piece of radiator hose and cut it so it curbs down to level the carb and as short as possible maybe only 2 inchs long. Alleyoop

If you are running an open exhaust, it could be your problem..you need backpressure to get vacuum...we always up jetted on the early Honda 90s and a large intake scoop that forced the air/fuel mixture like a ram...
The gas will eat the rubber hose for lunch...as Rich said...aluminum or stainless flex exhaust is better, but hard to find in the right diameter...

Okie using one of the those Chrome "Racing" intake manifolds with a Stock carburetor or a CVK Carburetor will not work right because its too long and it will hit the support mount. NCY Makes a intake manifold that is shorter to prevent the carburetor from hitting the support mount. Attachments:
