So it was raining earlier today and i just put in the new diaphram in my carb and took it out for a spin to see how it ran. There were some wet leaves before a stop sign and when i was breaking my wheels locked up and slipped on the leaves. I skidded with the scooter for a while, thank god there were no cars coming because i skidded past the stop sign into the middle of the road. I got up and wasn't hurt to badly. I do have a good amount of road rash though but nothing like broken bones or anything like that thankfully. The scooter was pretty fine. It started up after a few tries and after a little throttle started to idle. It is running fine but unfortunately did get scratched up. I come to all of you forum goers for two things with this post. Please watch out for wet leaves and poor conditions in general and drive cautiously. Tis could have been a lot worse than it was. And also if any of you know how to do paint repair or how much scooters cost if i wanted a proffesional paint job? I could try to order new panels if I could find the, as well. I love my scoot, I named her Kaitlyn and want her lookin back like the day I got her.

Bummer, glad to hear your basically ok and no broken bones just a little messed up ride that money can fix. Yes, two wheelers can be dangerous even when dry if there happens to be some oil, dirt, gravel or a good size hole on the street. When wet the danger scale goes up quite a bit. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop, I appreciate it! I a, happy that she is still running fine though. She faired better then I did! By any chance do you know how much it would cost for a paint job on a scooter? Or if car/auto paint places would paint her or would i need to go to a specialty scooter paint shop. I could attempt it myself but wouldn't know where to start.

Painting a scoot I myself have not done that and I could not tell you what a paint job would cost. You may get lucky and find a shop that will do such a small job and you can then even change to a different color if you wanted to. I have never heard of a scooter paint shop HECK most shops cannot even fix them right(HAHA). Alleyoop

Well that sucks Curiousgeorge, glad you're OK. This time of the year can be dangerous with the leaves coming down. Sometimes they hide gravel for an extra treat. Probably finding replacement plastic would be easier than finding a paint shop that would do such a small job. I know a body guy right down the street that has a hog and will do bikes for about $200.00 if you take the pieces off first. Maybe you could check the bike shops around you. Rich

Jct842 thanks for those videos! I will give them a look when i get to a computer, I'm using my ipad right now. Bashan, thanks for your concern! I will talk to some local bike shops to maybe get some estimates. One problem is that i can't get one of the side panels off due to haveing the locking mechanism for the under seat storage in it. Do you think they wouldn't mind painting the scooter with the panels on?

Went to the doctors. They said I hyper extended my shoulder when i was skidding and damaged my tendon and muscle a little bit. They said it should start to get better by monday and should be all healed in a little over a week. So that is good. i didn't notice it at the time but my mirror is all scratched up. Anyone know good universal mirrors i could buy to replace them?

Scrappy's got some extended chrome ones way down that page. Just make sure your mms match and the threads aren't reversed on one side.

take both mirrors off to see thread direction. then one to hardware store to find thread size with a nut. The side panel will disassemble, it may have been put together by a 12 year old child laborer in china. Most just have a sheet metal c-clip to hold the locking part together.
To measure threads a ruler will not read close enough, a micrometer or caliper would, butt a nut from the metric bin will to. I think if you just order a set from scrappy dog you would be fine. for 50's they have a whole section for parts there and every part you could want.
