warming up scoot today, then as a re-started scoot, no headlights, notice that my light switch wasn't moving from low to high beam, got it moving, but my headlights and tail lights are very dim looking, JR thinks it could be a bad light switch, told me to take off and check contacts, but not should how to remove it to check it out,

I would first try and spray some WD40 inside the switch to try and clean up the contacts. Alleyoop

Hi Alleyoop, I sprayed some WD40 in around the low-high beam switch before coming to work and nothing, but I try them when I go home tonight and maybe spay some more, first time didn't spray alot. Is ther another way to get that spay in the contacts?

Tried the WD40 again and nothing, still dim looking, the two little light that come on when you turn key on are bright, but start scoot and both front and tail lights are dim, does that light switch effect the back lights too?

If you give it throttle do they brighten up? Could also be a bad ground so check your grounds. On your scoot can you put the lights on without the motor running? Or does the motor have to be running for those lights to come on. I am asking to see if they are run by the BATTERY or do they only come on when the motor is running.
On my Trike which is the same body as yours a clone of the 250 Honda Reflex ALL MY LIGHTS work off the battery and I do not need the motor to be running to put all of my lights on. I can put on the instrument panel lights and the running lights also come on as well as those little lights above the headlights come on, then push the light switch button all the way to the left and my headlights come on. Alleyoop, the only lights that come on with turn key on is those little lights aside my headlights, got to start scoot to have the headlight running.

Alleyoop, think I found the problem, this is right above my R/R, not sure what to do next Looks like something got hot enough to melt this connector

Ok so your lights runs off the STATOR
Yep that looks like the wires coming from your stator IS THAT YOUR R/R that is covered by that rubber boot? Or do they just plug into another plug in the harness Alleyoop

Hi alley, no that the wiring harness, the R/R is below that to the left. My scoot seems to be charging, no trouble starting scoot.
I seen on other forum asking about my lights, yes I switch from 25w to 35w, do I need to go back to the 25w's?

I would first check your charging system, get your volt meter and hook it up to the battery start your scoot and see how much the R/R/ is putting out. It could be the R/R is putting out to much and your R/R is bad. It should be able to handle 35w most of the scoots come with 35w lights and they put in bigger than 35w bulbs. Alleyoop

Will do as soon as I get home, around 4:30p.m. What about the where it is melted, do I have to re-place that connector?

One thing that I have found over the years that a connector that is carrying a moderate amount of current as in a head light that if the pins in the connector are loose it will get hot enough to melt the connector. loose pins = high resistance and the more resistance the more heat. I would either replace it or solder the wires together eliminating the connector.

If I have this set right for testing battery to see if its charging, here is the results 12.45 when scoot is running. This setting is while idling.
