So about a week or so ago, I went out for a ride, everything was fine the hour or two I had been riding, as I was on my way home I had to take the highway. As I was maybe only a mile and some change away from my house, I noticed my scooter losing power. I didn't notice any strange noises and the battery didn't appear to be out of charge. I pulled over to the side of the road and gave it a little bit of gas, it started doing fine again, got back on the road and a few hundred feet down I began losing power again. I made it to my street in my neighborhood, and as I stopped at an intersection to turn onto my road, my scooter died completely and would not start, and I had to push the rest of the way home. I'm not sure as to what could be wrong. I personally do not have much experience working on scooters. I've had my 2012 150cc MC-20 Roketa for about 7 months now, and I really haven't had problems with it since I got it. It is at 2140 miles, and I recently done an oil change just a couple of weeks ago. Everything has been fine. It hasn't been stored any or had foul gas put into it. If anyone would maybe have an idea or know what could be wrong, I'm in desperate need of help to try and fix this thing.

Check your valves, the exhaust has probably closed up on it. Gap the Valves BOTTOM EXHAUST to .005 inchs and the TOP INTAKE to .004 inchs. Alleyoop

I had my father who is a mechanic take a look at the valves and he said they look fine and are moving right. Would there possibly be any other reasons as to why this could have happened/why it is refusing to start? It turns over but doesn't fire. It sounds like it's trying really hard to, but can't.

Taking a look at the valves seeing them move up and down IS NOT good enough. He has to check the GAP especially on the EXHAUST VALVE. If he is a Mechanic he should know this and set the valves correctly. The Top Intake may not be off BUT the EXHAUST Valves on these scoots tighten up really quick and leaves the valve open a little which in turn you loose compression and they will die when hot and are very hard to start and will not HOLD LOW IDLE.
It takes SPARK, GAS, COMPRESSION and AIR for the motors to run. If anyone of those requirements are pretty far off or missing a motor may not not run or run very poorly. Alleyoop

check the air filter. its probably saturated in oil. if it is remove the vent hose from the valve cover that goes into the air box. just get a longer line and run it up the side by the gas tank

I was just able to check and it does seem as though the hose is pretty black and filled with a good bit of oil. The air filter itself seems very clean, though. I've bleeding a lot of reading and research and would this hose need to be drained/cleaned? And if so, how would I go about doing that?

Alleyoop Okay so I've done a few things and whatnot and finally got my scoot running. The only thing is, it took starter fluid being spray on it to get it going. I took it around my neighborhood and it seemed to run fine. Got home, about thirty minutes later I was going to bring it on another run in the neighborhood and it won't start, again. So it's only starting when I use starter fluid. What do you think the problem could be?

And do you still think its the valves? He said it feels very low on compression, and that for some reason it's not getting enough gas, hence the starting fluid. This is the first time I've ever had to work on a bike, so I can't say I'm 100% sure on everything to do, and with that I just really don't want to do anything that would mess the bike up any further. My dad is a mechanic and recently fixed our dirt bike, but he works a lot so I'm kind of stuck doing 99.9% of the work on it most of the time.

Yes ! Double check and adjust the d@#* valve GAPS ( like the others keep telling you ) ! Pick up a feeler gauge from a tool store and a wrench . Your going to keep doing this till they finally get adjusted right ! TDC (top dead center) is critical when doing this . Improperly adjusted valve gaps will continue to cost you compression !!! Even if they are a tad off they will still cost you compression. Your going to keep having this happening over and over and over till the intake and exhaust valves gaps are set right. If you need help for reference on how to do this check the reference section of this forum . It will help you learn how to do your own mechanic work !! If you screw up , that's ok , there are big scooter gurus here to help you figure out what went wrong and help you fix it !! ;D will c.

check the intake boot where the carb is attached going into the engine. they are plastic and crack all the time from heat and vibration. you will have to lift the seat and remove the storage box. grab ahold of the carb and move it up and down then look for cracks in that elbow to the engine. get a flashlight and look closely

Just a thought. Have you checked the fuel filter? your symptoms sound just like what happened on my Toyota. Got stranded in the mountains and had to have it towed to my repair shop to find out it was something that simple.

After one adjustment of the valves, my scooter is running again! Thanks so much everyone for helping me figure this out, haha. I'll definitely be asking you guys again for tips and help. I was a little nervous this being the first scooter I've owned that was street legal, to tinker with its guts. My scooter is my baby, and it when it wanted to commit suicide on me I panicked. But thanks again everyone for helping me out with this.
