I've heard so many bad things about every scooter dealer online. Is there a good one?

I bought my TaoTao from them 6 months ago. No issues whatsoever. But this is a common ocurance. Some will say they had issues. I had a starter problem and they sent me a new one no questions asked. Most of them dont do proper PDIs, get a bad running scooter and blame the dealer. They dont make the damned things just dell them... Not right!

Both our Ruckus type clones came from Scooter Depot. I had no issues with them other than they failed to email the second tracking #,which was easily handled with a phone call. Both came with in a week.

I bought my Ruckus style reverse trike from them recently. It had some shipping damage that has still not been resolved. They owe me a speedometer head with a good housing. The original case was broken during shipment. I figure the speedo head is on a container ship somewhere. They probably had a LOT of the speedo heads damaged due to a crating error. The crate or shall we say metal frame was about 2" too short. With my luck the speedo will arrive when I finally purchase a new one on Ebay or Amazon. I had wiring and starting issues but those were resolved. The trike runs well and the speedometer 'works'. I can't quite believe the readings I see. I have no way to calibrate the unit. The odometer is in kM, not miles. The company seems reasonable to deal with. But as I learned replacement part delivery is VERY slow in some cases.
Read the complaints very carefully. Most of the complainers seem to be complete idiots and many of the 'problems' seem to be operator error or fraud. That is quite normal as usual, unhappy customers post complaints, satisfied customers don't post reviews.

I've bought two from Bobcat's Motorsports. They're friendly, courteous, and they back their scooters. www.bobcatsmotorsports.com ;D

Frankenmech, this is where the good from the bad stand out.I appreciate your unbiased review. Lets hope they do the right thing. When my BMS came with shipping damage which was a scratch on the body panel where a forklift went through the box they offered a credit back to my credit card for 30.00. (killermotorsports). In your case that might be an option if time is an issue and you can locate one on your own.

Five years ago everybody had great luck with www.gsmotorworks.comThere hasn't been much word lately on them, good or bad. I only know they were there for me completely and warranty parts arrived within a week. I'm waiting for Tao Tao to build a 250, or bigger, scooter. I'll save my pennies for that one.

I bought my Chuanl 150cc scooter from Scooter Depot and I love it. HOWEVER, it did ship without a battery and MSO took two phone calls and an extra two weeks to get and I never got a battery or even a return call or fax from them, even after a month and I lost track of the number of calls. I couldn't even get the same person on the phone again so I had to explain the situation over and over every time and get promised the world with absolutely no follow-up. To sum it up products seem to be fine, it's after they get your money service that sucks.

I do not believe they're a scam. Could they improve customer service, customer relations? Yes, very definitely! Shipping scooters across the country is a tough business to say the least. There are so many intangibles involved. And I realize there are people out there that have gotten bad deals for some reason or other. I bought mine from scooterdepot. I knew there was some risk involved. I knew what I was purchasing, I took a chance and made out good. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones, I know there must be many more out there. I definitely love my chinese scooter. I know it is not a marvel of engineering or the very top quality in the industry, but it is not junk!

I purchased a 150cc Scoot from them a few months back with no issues. Paperwork arrived on time, no problem obtaining Title or registration. They have a wealth of information on there ordering and shipping process online that people just don't read.

I believe the quality of Chinese products is in the up swing and US vendors have improved a good bit in the last few years, still its kind of a crap shoot so to speak. Our Ruckus type clones were sold under the description of the one my wife received while the one I received was similar but different and by a completely different manufacturer. Mine is on 12" wheels and a long case engine, hers is on 10"wheels and a short case among other things. Im happy with mine, she loves hers, so its a happy ending. I would buy from them again as it was a good experience. Truth is you don't know what you got til you got it though.

I believe this too. I may not necessarily believe in the crap shoot though. I think this is more the case/
They have a wealth of information on there ordering and shipping process online that people just don't read.
If you were going to buy a car, you would have experience and a general consensus to follow. If you were going to buy a motorcycle there are things you better read. You wouldn't want a sport bike and buy a Harley, you wouldn't want to do long distance riding and buy a Crotch Rocket.
Yet people buy Chinese scooters and don't read the specs or have a clue what the scoot is good for. People buy 150s and are disappointed when they can't ride the freeways. They're upset with the way it handles, yet didn't read up on the effect of wheel sizes. Not to mention, "My car is good for 5,000 miles between oil changes and this scooter has an engine. Aren't they the same?"

Even the worst of them have had some very happy customers. I can't think of the name of the one in 2008/2009 with many names that was probably in Ok. that so many cussed, even they had some very happy customers. When a customer calls up screaming and cussing the bad ones hang up and are done with them. The better ones will try to fix things but I believe a lot of customer complaints are never fixed due to a belligerent customer.
I Know of a case where the customer was a screamer with a small problem and used a check to pay. It took 6 months to get his money back, had he not screamed at them the problem would have been resolved in a week, had he used a credit card and screamed it would have been refunded promptly.
And further just as in a divorce there are always three sides to the story and the one we seldom hear about is the way it really happened.
