I just got a 2009 gatormoto eagle 49cc. It ran great for the first week then sat for a week while i got tags for it. I cant get it started yet. I was told to clean the spark plug but i dont know where it is i cant find it. Does anyone have a diagram of 49cc scooter engines?

Welcome, glad to have you with our community. We'll get you fixed up, sometimes you have to stick with it though and try not to get frustrated or in a hurry. I hate to burst your bubble, but if it ran great and then a week later went belly up, I doubt it's the plug, they don't vaporize by themselves. It helps to give us a little history of your bike, new, used, crate, sat for a while before purchase etc.? Also, can you be a little more descriptive about what it's doing, firing at all, just cranks, smells like gas, etc. By the way, Chinese scoots are very hard to work on with the body plastic on, you may need to get used to the idea of taking some off so you can get to things. As Dr. JR said, your plug is on the right side of the motor near the front and it has that big wire running to it. You might have gotten lucky and the wire came loose, see if it's snug on the plug. By the way, from this point on you'd be better served to ask tech questions in the GY6 50 to 200cc board, you'll have some eager eyes on your problem. We also have several manuals in the technical data base but that may be a little ahead of you right now. Good luck, we've all been there. Rich

Welcome to the forum. Please don't do what I did on my 150 and drop the plug as you're taking it out. They're a real pain to get out without tearing all the plastic off! Good luck!

Little tip I learned based on an experience just like CC's. Get your spark plug wrech pushed firmly down on the plug. It has a rubber grommet that will grip the plug and hold it. After you get it broke loose with the ratchet, detach the ratchet from the extension. Then use your hands to back the plug out with the extension and lift it out of the hell hole. Do the same thing in reverse to put it back in and you won't strip the threads because you have a better feel with just the extension. As soon as it bottoms out on the threads put the ratchet on and tighten. Rich

It is a 09 gatormoto eagle 49cc. It had 5 miles on it when i got it. Im not sure of the history before i got it. The start turns over when i use the electric start but doesnt seem to spark, the engine doesnt turn at all. I took the air filter cover off and gas came out so i cleaned filter and everything there out. i took all the plastic off today and took the spark plug out to replace it just so id know it wasnt that if it didnt work but i got the wrong size plug so tomorrow thatll get done. I was told it might be a fuel or vacuum problem? i dont have a clue where to start with that

OK, We are going to get you running again. Try these three things: 1. MAKE SURE THE KILL SWITCH IS ON. The more I read the thread, the more I think it was bumped and that is the reason it won't start so check this first.
2. If the killswitch is on, take the new plug, pull off the spark plug wire from the plug and LEAVE the original one in the motor. Plug the new spark plug into the boot until it clicks. Lay it against some metal, the valve cover will work. Spin the motor over and see if the plug has a nice wide blue spark. If it does, go ahead and put in the new plug like described and make sure the boot clicks ensuring it is on. This means you have spark and you can eliminate the CDI. If there is no spark, there is an electric problem with the keyswitch, killswitch or CDI.
3. If you have spark, take off the air cleaner and put a little gas in a spray bottle and while you are spinning the motor over, spray some gas into the intake where the air cleaner was and see if it starts. If it starts and runs, you have a fuel delivery problem and we need to start looking at the carb and fuel delivery system.
If you have spark and still cannot get it to start by spraying gas into the intake then we need to start looking at compression but at 5 miles, I doubt we will have to go that route. Try these things and let us know the outcome. We will go from there.

MT, great advice as usual. I don't know WHEN I'm going to start remembering the kill switch....DUH! Anyway, Dcooke, IF there's no spark it could be the coil too, I personally had trouble with that....AND the kill switch. There's a multimeter test for the coil but they're so cheap it's easiest to swap one out, I feel that applies to the CDI too:

Don't forget to squeeze the handbrake too!

dcooke, You need an NGK C7HSA (standard - around $2-$3) or CR7HIX (Iridium - around $7).

OK im making progress..I replaced the spark plug with a new one and gave it a kick and it started right up. I let it just sit idle for about ten minutes then started giving it gas..It was fine for about 15 mins. then it started to die down alittle bit and go back up then finally stalled. No when i start it up itll run then stall.

Sounds like the prime jet got plugged. Look at #3 on my previous post about spraying gas in the intake where the air filter is. If it runs, should be the prime jet that controls starting and idling. You will have to take it out and clean it out. We can walk you through that. Let us know if it runs with the gas.
Your getting close.

Will it sit there and idle for a while and then die? Does it start and then die quickly? Does it die when you give it throttle?
