No crap I got like 6 cars and 4 bikes, all due on my birthday (Nov) However, last year I lost my plate (Chinese bolts done vibrated right off, lost plate and frame and plate holder, all in one fell swoop)and got a 1 1/2 year renewal. Now, if it gets above 38 this year, and I get my tyres balanced, and get that ATV lift, so I can do my spring maint, I'll be all set. Safe riding to all

Don't forget that clutch and variator rebuild that you say you do every season. Why are you talking like the season is about to start? Won't the tub fire below 50*? I've been monitoring your weather, there hasn't been a day I wouldn't ride yet. Trailer troubles-LMAO.
I had a very funny experience. I got my renewal notices in the mail for the Rebel, Rocket and the Fashion. The Bashan wasn't put back on the road after the cylinder head so I had to re-register it. I called my insurance company to get it put back on my policy. Since I have the three other bikes it will cost me $19.55 for liability. I was laughing my butt off. Plates back, ready to rock. My China fleet will cross 20,000 combined miles, no sweat.

The Chinese don't have a corner on vibration. One day I looked at the back of my Wife's Rebel and the plate was gone. The bolts were still in place and there were the bolt hole pieces of the plate. The rest cracked and fell off. It's a very common problem on vertical twins. I just didn't pay attention since it's a quality Japanese product you know.

Now that you mention it, I lost one on my Honda Sabre (1100 VT) also. But I think that was my fault, I added a really nice POW/MIA license plate frame, and may not have got the bolts tight enuf.

Put a drop of Blue Loctite on the screw or bolt thread and you don't have to worry about losing one

Years ago I had the plate crack around the bolt holes on a foreign car, a brand new pinto. I mounted the plate upside down since the bottom holes were still good and it pissed off a local cop! The vibes must have come from the "quality" german motor in it.

i replace just about every nut and bolt with well graded stainless or titanium and nylock nuts and since the plates here in california are made out of a hybrid balsa wood, paper and eggshells and so thin i make up a backing plate and use 4 bolts

It's not a question of hardware with many motorcycles. Even the counter balanced one emit a high frequency vibration through the frame that seems to be amplified at the tail light and bracket hanging off the back. My wife's mounting hardware was still there along with pieces of the plate. The larger piece vibrated, cracked around the washers and fell off. My W650 Kawasaki actually started to crack the entire rear fender in front of the tail light assembly. I had to drill small holes to stop the crack from spreading. Old Harleys used to break all sorts of things before they rubber mounted the engine. I saw a new Low Rider break its Battery Box mounts and spill acid all over the frame and exhaust pipes out the vent hose. Scooters rubber mount their engines in the pivots, no problems.
